I dunno about you all, but it seems like a HUGE waste of an awesome ship name to give "Reaper" to a noob ship.
Any chance we can the noob ship somthin like "dagger" and save "Reaper" for a cool ship?

i agree a noob ship should not have such a cool name. maybe "deathtrap", or "bait bucket", or "useless" could be a good noob ship name.

I also want them to free up the Minmatar Shuttle model for use on a real ship. Like the Slasher and the interceptors. Those would be awesome with that "last starfighter meets TIE fighter" design.

All tech I module, ammo and ship names should be converted to something fairly standard and nonsensical like 220-MD or some such. With the names back in the pool they should have a good long cooldown as to not cause confusion and then be re-used for state of the art equipment.

That would be nice.  He has a point though, ships named Noobship, N00Bcakes, Waffles11Eleven!! or Carebearmobile adds nothing to the feel of EVE, it's needlessly killing all and any immersion in the game.
Also adding more descriptive names to ammo for one would be welcome, say AM5-12, denoting antimatter as well as typical range for usage in short range respectively long range standard guns. Though not a pressing matter with antimatter typically there are some ammo out there tying up some very cool names I'd rather see on something a little more talked about, like say a ship. Firefly anyone?

In the scope of "Things that need to be changed" renaming a rookie ship is probably near the bottom between "Scratch and Sniff forum pages" and "Let's make EVE cost $50 a month per subcription cuz we are all rich"

If reaper is such a requested name why not 'reuse' it for the next instalment of ships to be added to the game. Whatever new monster ccp makes for the minmatar class ships, be it a new type of bs or other, give it a similiar but upgraded name such as the reaper xl, megareaper, stealthreaper, reaperofwheat, bone reaper or what not. I personally would like to see the name revitalized in a ship dubbed the "Grim Reaper"

Why ? I meet pilots who thought Reaper would be a real combat vessel. Some of them even gave intel on
a "incoming Rapier" :-) Reaper is a cool name, especially on a noob ship.
Eve is and should be more than a typical expectation of general users ;)

Gotta love the noobship names though.
Ibis - a long legged wading bird... Definately implies a rubbish ship.
Velator - a town in Devon UK
Impairor - Implies that you will be slightly affected if you engage this ship but nothing really serious will happen.
Reaper - WTF death?
It's a nice to have but never going to happen I think.
