Topic says it all
We, yes, we the empire players are sick to bloody death of you attempting to get us into a postion where you can gank, own, kill, ****, murder, slap whatever you want to call it.
You choose to play your game time one way, we choose another.
0.0 is the msot lucrative space avalible and we dont want anything to do with it, empire does not make u stupidly rich, nor does it give anyone an unfair advantage
leave us alone, stop ****ing well having a go about missions, your inablity to cheap shot haulers and your stupid pirate antics thru lack of targets in your home regions
to the 0.0 alliances, - IF YOU WANT MORE TARGETS, STOP NAPPING everyone u bloody well see around u, fight everything, good god ive been there since CA days
Leave us alone, you have no right to tell us how to play

Seriously, make a difference between pvp-ers and pirats. I tend to see myself as an pvp'er, and I can't remember the last time I've shot at anyone in highsec. Hell, last time I visited lowsec it was while travelling to the next 0.0 region.

Little aldy i have lived in 0.0 for more years than u by a long shot, fought along side ca, imp, fa 5, bob, gbc, so pleas dont think i am paranoid because you couldnt be further from the truth.
Empire needs to be left alone, on and little aldy, my aliance is a 0.0 alliance but i prefer empire, elss hassle, why should that be changed?

instead of just discussing why did you feel the need to belittle me by boasting how long you have lived in 0.0 ? I can tell by the fact you chose to use this remark that you are telling porkies.

Why should the PVP base who have more stations, more ships, more money than any of the empire population decide how the *carebear* which i find very fofensive tbh - Us non combat personel decide to play
By what right do u have to tell CCP how we should play?

That's all PvP, so using that argument = fail.
Originally by: Tippia Because "less hassle" shouldn't be a part of the ≡v≡ gameplay.
Again define hassle, what it is to you might be totally different to everyone else. Humans, by their very nature choose the path of least resistance and make life easier for themselves.
Tell me when was the last time you chose a game to relax, after work, because it was a ton of hassle and stressed you out?
At a very basic level, more hassle = less customers. Less customers = CCP go pop. CCP go pop = no more eve. ---

Says me. Here. Also, for any given reward, the hassle should objectiveely be the same, so if you want less hassle, you need to pay the price of lesser rewards. At the moment, the empire — or at least high-sec — rewards (high) are out of whack compared to the amount of hassle (ε).

To be fair saying EVE is a PvP game is actually not correct, it's MMO with a strong PvP eliment. Its quite possible to play this game and never pew pew once in your entire game existance. Though that being said why the hell you would want to do that I don't know because it would bore me to tears.

My apologies, I wasn't aware that you were quite the responsible person to exactly make clear what is part of the EVE gameplay and what not. Again... my sincere apologies.
"Hassle" can't be objective, because if I understand the term correctly, I might have more hassle doing an 1 hour lvl 4 mission (short attention span, my computer's GPU fan failing every 20min... etc. etc.) than someone else, thus making the "hassle" not quite objective. -------- I play nekkid. |

True as far at it goes, but that doesn't mean you're not PvP:ing. The industrialist and trader paths of ≡v≡ are entirely PvP. The empire building is entirely PvP. Exploration is PvP. Just about anything you do in ≡v≡ is PvP.
As far as I can tell, there are only three non-PvP things you can do in this game: accept missions, hand in missions, and spin your ship. Anything inbetween those activities is subject to competition, and thus qualifies as PvP.

By what right do u have to tell CCP how we should play?
by the right that I started this game assuming that CCP want lying and would deliver a free PvP experience and TRUE nonconsensual consequences-loaded PvP. By the right that I don`t want the game I play to be changed to suit you
See the game I play is the game where someone can and should at all times be able to influence the way someone else plays the game. This is the beauty of eve.! Your actions have consequences and yes *shock*! you CAN be forced into doing things you DONT want to do and/or changing the way you play the game!Don`t like it? quit . EvE is about power and power only has meaning when it affects others. EvE is THE only MMORPG available right now , the rest are glorified single-player games with integrated chat rooms
So now you answer me , by what right do you think you can come here and whine for changes to the game to suit you? You now what you were joining yet aparently you want something 100% oposed to it...so what is your problem? Why would you have the core of the game changed? Why not simply join another dumbed-down game out there made for the masses of people who avoid all chalange and competition and just look for a hand-holder and a pat on the back?

I am within your sphere of influence. You affect me on a day to day basis. One of these days I'm going to get really tired of being ripped off on the market, your having you and your corp constantly spamming the place I live in.
Then I'm going to spend my entire measly life savings, to have a merc corp track down every one of your members, war dec your corp, and follow you for a month.
YOU influence EVERYTHING in EvE. You don't magically sit in your own little server and have no effect on the game world at large. If you use the market, your f*cking up somebodies day or helping somebody else. If you group up in a hisec system, your exponentially increasing the server load and screwing up the game for those players, and players in systems attached to that node. If your corp is renting offices, or factory slots, or research positions ... your screwing other players over who don't get to do what they need to do because YOU won't let them.
Mining? Yep, someone else could have used that asteroid. Ratting? Yep. Exploration? Not only did you scare some poor paranoid soul with your probe, but those sites your exploring are expendable.
Oh, let's get some wide assumptions and kill them real quick. Pull!
- 'Empire players/dwellers' are not all risk-averse please-dont-hit-me carebears. Many are industrialists who use the mining or the markets for financial gain and cutthroat market schemes. They'd do it in losec or nulsec, if the money was good. Hisec is just easier.
- A massive amount of hisec players are merely alts and jump clones of 0.0 inhabitants. Nulsec ain't got the resources to fund tens of thousands of combat pilots, so they go to hisec instead. This also is why you can't move into 0.0, cause you can't kill any corporations monetary supply because half or more is untouchable in hisec. BoB blobs are the only way to 'get er done', kill it all before it grows back.
- Pvpers are NOT all pirates and griefers. Hell, not all pirates are griefers, and not all griefers are PvPers. There are plenty of carebear (i.e. risk averse) pirates and griefers, too! Lot's of hisec dwellers are scammers, griefers and thieves.
- PvP is not greater than PvE in EvE, nor is it less. A player is very hard pressed to survive solely through either. If your never going to PvP, you can never use the market, never rent anything, and can only use the loot you find in missions. If your never going to PvE, you can never rat/mine/mission, and you'll probably find that making money SUCKS!

He has a point. Im a pirate and I understand his concerns. I guess as pirates we need to hold ourself to standards and start to care about who we shoot or who we war dec. After all, pod pilots are people too. We should be considerate. As Pirates, we should be role models....
lol ok enough of that. Dude get over it! If you dont want any crap be more careful.
1. Don't Jetcan mine 2. Dont auto pilot 3. Dont afk at gates 4. Dont haul billions of loot in 1 haul 5. Fit a cloak and some warp stabs on your hauler
Follow those rules and no one can touch you. My alt lives by those rules and only has a kill mail from self destruction. My alt had been on eve for a year now and no one can do anything to be because i close all my vulnerabilities.
As a pirate, if you follow those rules, it makes it harder for me to be efective, and at the same time i find out ways ither more clever ways to getcha.
Adapt, Change, Evolve....
I gotta admit though, the can flipping gets carebears mostly all the time. lol

Edited by: Mankirks Wife on 08/09/2008 14:29:12 I always find the threads where pirates whine that carebears are taking over Eve, having forgotten that..
- CCP buffed pirates by making freighters drop loot (which set the stage for the whole empire-suicide-ganking love fest that seems to have been recently nerfed) - CCP buffed pirates with current scanning system that pushed most of the mission runners out of lowsec and allowed highsec pirates to filch salvage risk-free, or loot if they have the stones for it. - CCP buffed pirates via the introduction of the HIC focused scram script, which pushed most of the heavy-duty haulers out of lowsec.
Of course, I don't have any issues with pirates (as a weekend-yarrer myself on occasion...), or people who PvP in any of the established venues in Eve that support that.
BUT.. a whole category of pirates makes their living, and has always made their living, by dancing around the rules - be it tanking CONCORD, the Privateers, or anyone who cashed in on freighter ganks while it was still lucrative.
And even though I know the Eve General Forums are a kind of twilight zone where very obvious intentions hold no merit when compared to the way things are actually implemented, and common sense appears to be a very uncommon commodity, it still surprises me that so many people come out of the woodwork when some not-an-exploit-but-not-really-what-we-meant gets patched by CCP. Doesn't always mean I agree with the fix (particularly in regards to suicide ganks - I would have gone with freighter rebalancing), but I still see why it happens and why it's needed.
I've taken my turn getting beat about the head and shoulders with the nerf bat more than once. Sure I cried a little, but for the most part I figured out how to deal with it and went on. ---

This was not a pirate buff. This was a fix to bring freighters in line with every other ship in the game. The reason they didn't drop loot earlier was that the server couldn't handle it. Now the server can handle it, so there's no reason for them not to drop loot. Piracy hasn't benefitted much from this change. It's rare for a pirate to ever happen upon a freighter, and freighter suicide ganks were never as common as some people like to believe.

The reason for the new probing system was exploration, so it really was a buff to PvE. Pirates have just adapted and turned it into a tool. You might find it hard to believe, but some, if not most, pirates would like to see a more complex probing system where actual skill plays a part. We are also aware of the fact that the new system has deteriorated the low sec situation even further.

HICs were introduced as a response to carebear whines about super capitals camping low sec gates. You got what you whined for, and now you whine that the solution has benefitted pirates as well. Well, tough *******, you should have learned that lesson when you whined for can flagging mechanics.
None of these three are buffs to pirates. Instead, pirates have adapted to new mechanics and turned them against the bears. Piracy itself hasn't had a buff since... well, since forever.

Yeah, it was a figurative example if anything. Not that I'd hire mercs. As much as I respect them, I don't like 'em. And amazingly enough, I don't experience lag, even in Penirgman on Sunday evenings. I try and play what interests me at the time, and am frankly a little bored at the moment.
But you'll never stop the people like me or Anna up above who think we're witty and charming and have the freedom to insert our asinine comments wherever we so choose.
Eh, whatever. Even the forums are getting boring.
To your point, you need to diversify, even your style and manner of argument. Too many people have commented that I'm 'reasonable' and 'fair minded' lately. Felt a few posts with straightforward bias needed to be made to squash that opinion

If you wanted "less hassle" you wouldn't be playing EVE :P You'd be playing WoW..
And btw, pvp is usually alot of hassle when it comes to finding targets.. and it's usually a bit stressful once you manage to find a target, I get a huge adrenalin rush at least...

Am I the only player who uses other games for that PvP rush? I mean, I go play PlanetSide or Battlefield 2 when I'm looking for that kind of single-minded, adrenaline-pumping PvP.
They work better, they require less effort and time, they provide the same sense of gratification when the other guy goes down from a clean snipe ...
Play the game as it's suited, in my opinion. EvE is for living in. Hisec, losec, nulsec ... it's where my character LIVES. I don't 'go over there' just to PvP. I go to make a difference, to defend my friends, to make a little money.
If I want mindless mobtastic bunny hopping, I might try WoW for an hour. If I want fast, intense action, I'll try PlanetSide. If I want really nice and in-depth PvE, I got me some KOTOR on the other machine.
When I want some gritty realism, something with a kick like a shooter of Jack, then I play EvE. EvE is for grownups and dissidents, *ssholes and bitter old men.
God, I hope they don't change that.

Dear Lord! Back off lads! He's got a keyboard, with a nail through it!!!...
...M'kay, I believe the problem with High sec being *too* rewarding is a lot of alliances actually rely on a small horde of alts grinding missions for isk to prop up their 0.0 operations. The problem (and target of much ænerf!Æ- rage) isn't so much Little Johnny-wouldnÆt-harm-a-capsule, solo-mission-runner, who is just dreaming of his faction Battleship, itÆs those damn grubby little alts...

There is one good reason to leave the highsec missions alone. That reason is specifically that people can make some moderate ISK without having to go to 0.0 and put up with megalomaniac alliance bosses who think Eve > RL. I just couldn't stand the damn place.
If I wanted a second job, I'd get one that pays real money. On the other hand, in Eve you can kill your boss as much as you want, and that's a serious plus.

Don't think for a second that suicide gankers suffer from any kind of nerd rage. And don't think that CCP nerfed suicide ganking because it was against CCPs 'vision'. It was all about subs.
You aren't safe. If anyone here is displaying nerd rage it's you.
We will find another way to fleece, outbid, thieve, scam, harass, and pod you. Count on it. And I can guarantee two things.
1) The next time it happens, you and your ilk will start complaining, and when enough of you cancel CCP will nerf that too.
2) You are weak. You entire eve life will be spent funding others who are not, before you finally go to the recycle biomass queue. MUHAHAHAHA.

Edited by: Haradgrim on 08/09/2008 21:06:18 The entire high-sec security topic is like one big game of "NO, YOU!"
The only problem is that more people enjoy this game on the easy difficulty setting, and its leaving those of us who like to play on hard out in the cold (even when I do carebear in Empire, I start to feel bored if there is no threat of being ganked, I mean; what's fun about AFK hauling? To paraphrase a dev: It's bascially like making a conscious decision not to have fun). And yet at the same time, people fail to see how having an open market-place under those conditions makes it unfair for those that do not take maximum advantage of the high-sec safe zone.....
That combined with the fact that CCP actions would seem to indicate they care way more about subs than the integrity of their game (at least with regard to previous statements about their vision)....
The way I see it is they are currently trading long term viability for short term profit. --

In what way can a pvp base get to decide how others play
1. lvl 4's in low sec - This is so pirates can get cheap ganks 2. Misions in 0.0 - Again so 0.0 piltos can get cheap ganks 3. Remvoe people from newb corps just because? - again so empire tards can get cheap kilsl from war deccing non pvp base

Little tip: Your post put you in the same category as the ugly crowd at school...nobody wants to associate and everybody wants to make fun of you. Not cool.
P.S. EVE is sandbox play. CCP would never kill empire too much because alot of 0.0 players rely on their mission running alts in Empire to fund pew pew. Alliances mostly collect loot. And thats the truth. If you were in 0.0 since the CA days you would know how many people sometimes take a few days off to recover a big loss in fleet OPs

there is, its you risk your ass in lowsec, (which is quite safe) and barely get any more reward than from highsec. not to mention that highsec veldspar is (or was I haven't run the numbers recently) just as good as any lowsec ore. and certain parts of 0.0. as for lv4s in lowsec, given the pwnsauce concord is I really don't think it makes any sense to have pirates in highsec at all. so yea... (but for game play reasons I don't personally want to remove them)
as for 0.0 missions, well them parts are rather well protected and controlled by alliances. pirate lp stores are quite good.
easy ganks are rather easy to come by. that and why shouldn't people join a corp. as long as you don't flash your bling around, or **** people off you should avoid wars quite nicely.

Smells like blood, that it does.

Have you ever noticed the inverse correlation between the aggressiveness of a character's name/bio/sig and the player's combat skill?
Character has Shadow/Killer/Blood/Slayer/Dark/Master in his name? Means that Mr Bloodshadow Darkslayer will whine like a little girl when you pop his T1 frigate and quite likely add 250k to your bounty.
Robert Oppenheimer quote? Means that he can run Worlds Collide IV in less than 20 minutes.
Corp title is "Star Admiral of the Inquisition"? Means that he will station tank an entire war-dec after losing 1 T1-fitted cruiser on the first day
Sun Tzu quote in the bio? Mean that he always warps to planet 1 at 0Km if a non-blue appears on his overview.
And so forth.

To Ze Forums! F-5, F-5, F-5.
You should really run instanced quests on guild wars with a party of 7 players who can't attack each other, i think it would be more your style. Seriously, without flaming.
CCP take note of this post i've quoted, shame on you if you really do want to cater to this type of player.
This type of player? How can you tell what type of player I am just by reading my post?I'm someone who calls it as I see it and the fact is that my statement is true. Too many people have misunderstood CCPs intentions and are now being told by CCP Devs that they are wrong. A CCP employee recently said:
'Cold harsh universe does not mean griefers paradise'
Didn't you get the memo?
Seeing as how everything you have in game is owned by CCP and you are playing on CCPs server it should be obvious that CCP are running the game-Not whiney carebears or nerdy gankers.
If anybody disagrees with CCP or refuses to accept their rules they have the option to cancel their account.

Rubbish. Having a ship which can't be warp jammed was imba. Did whiney carebears get Titans nerfed as well?
btw I've read some of your( Ki Ans) opinions and statements on carebears, PvP and war decs and I'm sure CCP have as well. imo your statements have done more to get war decs nerfed than any carebear whine because you, more or less, confirmed to CCP that war decs are being used for 'grief' play.
The fact is you have previously claimed 'ccp are not looking to reign in griefers' and you also confidently predicted there would be 'no nerf to suicide ganking' so why should anyone listen to what you think or your opinions when you are frequently and consistently wrong?

I'm in 0.5 atm I've recently joined a Player Corp, imo High Sec missions are useful, they allow players to build up funds, skills etc. If they do as some posters suggest and nerf high sec. they'll get what they want, and that's their epeens stroked. With High Sec. nerfed there would be no new players to come into Low Sec/Null Sec. to challenge their ownership of "Their Game" The missions in High Sec don't pay out a lot of ISK, the drops are mostly rubbish, so where people get the idea that people in High Sec are rolling in billions of isk I don't know. My ship is a Ferox, it's uninsured and will remain so until i can afford to insure it, the reason for this is when i do missions I take damage, repairing it costs isk, which i work to get. Having someone come along and blow a ship out from under you is a pain. It costs people real time and money, (and before any witless fool says isk buyer, think again numbnuts). I have to pay game subs, phone and broadband, so when you take your 5mins of fun you are stealing from me. That's what ticks people off, a bunch of thieves thinking they own the game.

What level missions are you running? How fast do you run them? Do you salvage? What do you do with the LP?
They pay well enough — even in a battlecruiser, L4s will pull in 15mil per hour. If you're flying something with more oomph, the time required drops drastically, and the ISK/h increases.

You're doing it wrong. Fix your tank. You should never have to repair in-station after a mission.

It's a PvP game. Live with it. The purpose of ships is to blow up — it's what keeps the game going.

Edited by: DarthJosh on 09/09/2008 11:47:21 so when youre playing a game that has npcs that keep raiding your space, and you find yourself this nice lot, and settle.
would you honestly expect those npcs not to invade your space? and be all "leave me alone npc!!" when they do?
are you sure you know how eve is played? -

At present I'm having difficulties managing a L2 Recon, I've been trying various fits, but none of them seem to work, I dunno maybe it's just me!

Most missions I don't have to repair, but when the repairs do have to be done it usually takes most of the funds I have, that's why the insurance hasn't been paid.
