I am not convicend. Yes, a npc may view each player independetly and thus if many players engage same npc many defender missiles may be fired from the npc. However, I have not observed this nor has anyone showed me any data that this is the case.
More importantly, I seriously doubt the npc defender launcher RoF depends on a single player's missile launcher RoF.
The reason I dare to be so convinced, is that devs on several occasions have explained that it IS a static percentage.
There's no npc defender rof to speak of, it's based on every and each missile incoming, not on the players themselves. ECM behaves in the same manner. It doesn't matter that marauders have low signal strength - since each gurista has a fixed percental chance of jamming you, not a signal strength.

On the other hand, it's not that difficult to make a cnr perma boost, about the same cost as the rattle snake if i remember right, so not much point in it really.
Phone rings? Someone turns up at the door? Right. Next you'll say that your girlfriend calls for your attention. Dude, this is EVE - drop your fantasies.

Ther is a flat chance of 25% that a defender will be launched by NPC for every incoming missile.
No, it's not. The percentage differs between different NPCs.

Oh i was jut adding clarity to the rattle, although since a gist can make a raven boost 23/7 for the same cost there's no real point + it's slower than both the cnr and golem.
Also for clarity, some people play eve for fun and actually have lives out with the game that must come first. If you have that amount of time to dedicate good for you, but life is passing by and it only ends one way
In either case, cnr/golem > rattle. -------------------------

Large and specific is more then sufficient. If you really wanna pimp (like i did) a Pith Large Shield Booster is overkill with 2 x DG Invulns and its easier to permarun then a X-L.
I really see no reason AT ALL for a X-L shield booster as far as level 4 missions goes (Ok AE Bonus room and Enemies Abound 5/5?)
Before I even had the money for this, I did Large Shield Booster II and specifics and it was enough for missions except the 2 i mentioned about.
EDIT: I've always read that defender missiles have a certain percent too launch per missile you fire. So 4 or 8 launchers shouldn't matter as you will still loose the same amount of DPS. I am quiet sure in this situation which we will just say 25%, 3 missiles / 6 missiles will reach the target? So that that static percentage applies not per ship, but per missile?
ALSO doesn't it takes 4 x defenders for 1 Torpedo? ------------

Nothing that can't be solved by more Minmatar nerfs.

With hammerheads this setup does 1380 dps with rage torps and tanks for 10 minutes 654 dps which is more than enough with this fire power to blizz every mission. And as you see it is even not that expensive.
2.5 bill for a mission ship not that expensive?

Actually, that's true for everything except guristas missions, at which my Nightmare and my corpmate's CNR are basically identical in speed due to the lousy damage type we deal vs. guristas.

Specifically the nightmare out damages the cnr on everything bar angels but their low hp almost makes up for it, though not quite. Low grade cystals + pith lrg booster is more than sufficient and totally cap stable with tachs, more so with pulses, the con being to make it cap stable you actually need implants/faction gear where the golem is happy with tii.
Despite it tracking exceptionally well i still found myself bugged by some frig heavy missions waiting from drones to finish them, or wondering why that fast cruiser isn't dyeing so fast.. Cnr is easier, believe me. -------------------------
