It worked well in other space MMORPG's, so it should be good for Eve. ____ Telltale sign of their presence is non-linear teleportation (www.eve-online.com/races/theodicy/Theodicy_All.pdf)

1: select a zoom level you want to work at 2: spin your ship around in all directions and mark the extremities of the ship on your monitor with a permanent marker pen 3: with the area you have marked out paint it with tipex/correction fluid 4: paint the white area as you see fit, tada!
hehe, for a zero impact tweak we could just paint our own ships only on our client. ie we save the pain job to our PC's and we can only ever see our ship painted, no-one else's. no server lag, no client lag and some nice eye candy without making you cringe when you see other peoples idea of eye candy.
to see other players ships with a paint job on is just going to make the server (and client) bleed. while other games can do it other games dont try and run on just one server shard, which makes things like this less feasible.
maybe ccp will release some small amount of customisation, but full blown paint jobs on every ship you can see? might be too much to ask for. Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |

yeah, i meant an in-game interface for doing it
still, on the upside using my guide to paint the screen wont get you perma-banned, but it may have other undesirable side effects. I think the in-game ship colours are already really cool - sadly most of the cool colours are not useable by players. If we could somehow use LPs and paint a ship in a corp/faction's colour it would be wonderful. I don't need the freedom to paint my own ships (I know I won't be able to come up with anything better than what we have), but if I could paint my Apocalypse / Armageddon in EoM colours and my Dominix / Megathron in Serpentis colours I'd be a very very happy man. Maybe make it an LP reward - doesn't have to be a different ship like the Bhaalgorn or Rattlesnake, just the same basic T1 ship with a faction colour scheme. Whether it needs to be done via faction LPs (a pain in itself and certainly to make the paint jobs too expensive for most people anyway) or just some other easier way is not so important. The chance of being able to fly one is just so uber, and I can't see it taking up that much extra memory.

This is a good reason why you shouldnt be able to paint your ships :), maybe if you could get existing paint jobs like the blood raider paint.
