Always pay ransom! Don't fight to the bitter end!
1) Whats to say they won't blow your ship up after you pay? Their reputation is the most valuable asset in their business. They are pirates afterall.
2) Your ship blowing up directly funds carebear activity, don't give your money to station-****ing industrials and macro miner scum!
3) Never, ever, smack talk, or whine in local, it shows your rather low self esteem in RL and in the game. Your carebear tears will only fuel their POS (or so I've heard. What's a POS?). Nothing will increase your chance of keeping your ship more than being a polite victim. Note it is better you open up a private chat for ransom before they do. If their response is "fug off.", then self destruct your ship. They are most likely killmail *****s with low self esteem in RL and would blow you up anyway.
Some tips for everyone!
1) Never watch local or the scanner. Space is yours, you are absolutely safe.
2) Fly faction-fitted faction ships. Don't let them blow you up. They get ransom. You get to keep your ship!
3) Warp Core Stabs FTL!
So in short: ALWAYS PAY RANSOM! Stiffle the flow of big isk to the carebear economy which will consist of rats and 'roids only. And I'm not just talking about asteroids... the 'roids they will get from sitting around in local for hours waiting for a pirate victim to buy their stuff once more people become more educated about dealing with pirates. By paying ransom you can rest assure your ship is still intact, and the carebears got nothing from you save a few iskies for ammo every now and then.
FLAME AWAY! I take pride that this post will **** off many alt-posters with no balls and cause them to waste more collective man hours posting stupid threads to this than the 1 minutes it took me to copy and edit this lololol.

Pay the ransom.

well, in the interests of sharing educational information, technically, its plagiarism if you post the same viewpoint as the original author, and pass that off as your own.
re-writing a speech to show the polar opposite viewpoint is not plagiarism.
Secondly, its not plagiarism if the op mentions copy editing, which, if you check the small print at the bottom of the first post, is there.
As a fully fluffed up carebear, i heartily endorse the ops post, and will be following all the points within it to the letter

We were flying in a miltia fleet yesterday... and the Gallante were in hiding, so we made our way back home. On the way we saw some pirates and didn't even stop to think about ransom, we just blew the blinky one out of the sky =).
and pirates shud know to use Control+Q instead of letting their pod get owned.
