Hello there Eve Fiction Writers and Fans alike! I'm Marc Scaurus, co-host on Voices from the Void, and I wanted to drop by here and let you know about a completely awesome contest our podcast is holding, courtesy of the one and only Arydanika. Here are the details:
__________________
In the New Year of Voices from the Void, we are going back to the things that inspire joy and passion for me when it comes to EVE Online and why this podcast started in the first place. EVE is like no other GÇÿgameGÇÖ on the market. In truth, EVE Online can hardly be classified as game. ItGÇÖs an experience. There are so many facets, play styles, complexities and intricacies that even the most bitter of vet has experienced a moment of GÇ£Wow.GÇ¥
Creating a game that has blossomed to a phenomenon is no small task. Kudos to CCP for giving us this grand sandbox of dreams and devastations. They have given us a universe weaved from fevered dreams of sci-fi lovers and brought it to life with code-laden blood of amazing individuals that love what they do and the breath of voracious, scheming players. ItGÇÖs about time we (ie GÇô the community) returned the favor.
ThatGÇÖs where the Voices Community Audio Project or V-CAP comes in to play. V-CAP is going to be a periodic open event where players are invited to express their literary passion for EVE Online. A topic will be selected and players will be able to submit short stories based upon the established topic. Once the entry period is closed, the entries will be voted on by the public as well as a panel of EVE Online Celebrity Judges. The top two winners will have their fictional piece brought to life via audio production as well as receive some cool in-game prizes.
While V-CAP is clearly a competition, the spirit of it is greater than seeing who can win. The hope is to give players another venue to share their passion for EVE Online. More than that, itGÇÖs a place for others in the community to come to enjoy the immersion EVE Online as well as be energized by the creativity of others.
*** Entries Must be Submitted by April 4th,
*********** Rules. Rules. Rules. *********** Submission Rules: Gùï Each player is allowed to submit one entry per theme. Gùï Submissions must be representative of the choose theme. Gùï Submissions can not exceed 1500 words. Gùï Submissions may only have three (3) speaking characters. Gùï Submissions must be in English. Gùï Players will post their submissions to their blog (or a host blog) and submit the link to vandvpodcast(at)gmail(dot)com for consideration. Gùï Players will have 18 days from the announcement date to submit their entries. Gùï Current celebrity judges will not be allowed submit. Gùï Links to submissions will be hosted on the V-CAP page on voicesfromthevoid.net Gùï Any submissions not meeting the above criteria will be disqualified. Gùï Minimum of 4 entries required for prizes to be awarded.
Judging Rules: There will be two different instancing of judging which will be combined to form a final score.
Gùï Judges Score: The celebrity judges will judge each piece based on pre-determines criteria for quality. These scores will be averaged and will be used as the base score. Criteria are: quality of writing, use of lore, immersion & originality.
Gùï Listener Score: Once all submissions are received a poll will be put up on voicesfromthevoid.net front page. All listeners and visitors will be able to vote once for the submission they want to win. These votes will be the determining factor for the winner of the contest.
*********** This Month's Topic *********** V-CAP I GÇô Discovering DUST 514 In the past few months, there has been an increasing awareness about DUST 514. Registration for MorduGÇÖs Private Trials has opened and the DUST 514 team has been very busy on Playstation.Blog. There they have been steadily feeding the community with articles that cast a faint hint of what the ground breaking new FPS will be. Posts revealing rapid deployment vehicles, infantry guns and dropsuits give a very limited look in to this new form of strategic warfare that will soon grace New Eden.
But how does all of this fit in to the CapsuleerGÇÖs view? That is the question to be answered in the initial deployment of V-CAP. Players are encouraged to create a short fictional story illustrating their vision of how a simple, space-faring Capsuleer discovers DUST 514 and all of its potential.
EDIT: Prized clause added - Minimum of 4 entries required for prizes to be awarded.
