That.
I just got distracted and drove into a lava pool at -3900 feet... even had a decent radiator and hull too. __________________________________

Since finding this thread several hours ago, I have been playing non-stop.
Got scores into the several-millions, gone BELOW 6000 feet under - nothing much seems to happen, but I think the game is programmed to make earthquakes every time you break 6000 feet? To screw you over?
Anyone know how (if possible) you complete this game?
One of the 'transmissions' says "I found the motherload!" - do you have to find the motherload to win it?

Answering this would spoil it.
As far as I can remember the game, I can give you some minor pointers without ruining it: after a certain depth you will almost constantly hit gas bubbles and whatnot. You need the best and most durable hull/armor or whatever to even be able to survive some of those blasts. also you need fuel canisters and repair equipment for every one of those deeper trips.
And once you hit the deepest spot you can reach, you will know, believe me

You'll find something, thats for sure. Keep going down.
BTW, its so sad that it took 3 years for me to finish this little diamond in the rough game. I fail -

I remember this game. Good times. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

I played for several hours but lost interest at about 4-5000 feet. I had made a nearly 3 unit wide virtical shaft to get down to the depths quickly and orginally to ascend just as quickly when fuel started to run low but once you get the transporter it kinda killed it for me. Watching some of the videos on youtube it seems that the central shaft is pretty much a normal idea for most. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
Players who post are like stars, there are bright ones and those who are dim.

I could, if I wanted to, go back and win the game over and over quite quickly - I've worked out the best system for it.
Fuel is scarce in the beginning - invest in a bigger fuel tank asap. The deeper you go, the better the rewards - so dig one long shaft, only needs to be one unit wide, and you can keep dropping insanely fast to a great depth, to pick up better rewards. Don't forget to leave enough time to get back up again. Also, remember to keep an eye on how deep your shaft goes so you know when to pull up out of the death-drop you're making to get down to the bottom quickly. As soon as you're below 4000 feet ish, you should be picking up some pretty good gems and things, and should be able to afford the $10,000 matter transporter thingy, which means you can stay really deep until you get 'fuel low' warning, and beam yourself straight back to the fuel station and top up. Then cash in on your minerals, go get another transporter (and some dynamites to blow up the stone thingies to ensure a continuous drop down to the bottom).
Sooner than you realise, you'll have all the best upgrades, and you'll be well below 6000 feet. You'll need a LOT of remote repair thingies and C4 charges - and I mean a LOT. I bought something like 100 of each, and I won :-) I ran out the first time I tried, so I had to escape, tool up properly, and start the boss-killing from scratch.
