As you all know some people are aproaching the maximum skill points a A++++ clone can handle.
What are you (CCP) planning to do?
Are you planing to intoduce new clone? If yes how? Though tech 2 BPO or what?
OR
Are you planing to NOT introduce new clones and let the gap bettween EVE Veterans and EVE newbies wash away a little bit?
I need an answer because i think this issue is starting to worrie some of the EVE veterans like myself. I'm only with 13M SP but i want to know in advance.
Best regards. Selling Raven BPC ME20 3M at Yulai 1st Station |

methinks the devs should make advanced clones player-manufactured so PC clone companies (yes the ones that were promised since beta) can operate. -

If you do, against all odds, manage to die as a Jove, all empires will collect your bodyparts and return them anyway.

Did they promise player made clones? Are you sure about that? The only thing I remember is that they said it might happen, but they weren't sure. If you can find a chat log or something where they promised to implement it, I would be interested in reading it.

On those videos in the download section the devs say that it would even be possible for players to start a law firm!
My only dream ever was to be a lawyer [:cry]
I dont remember them promising it, but i thought it was part of the plan all along. -

Uhm ...
Let me repeat that:
"Nothing decided, going over some interesting options, that being one of them "
In other words. No "soon", no "when", no "it's coming", no "we are working on this", no "it's planned" but nothing decided
I was prompted to answer the question, I did. It correctly stated what we have considered about the question asked. Nothing else. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

according to the article, the best ones currently are pure human with basic being animal bits. So A++++++ will be super human or part jove?

Edited by: Muaddid on 14/06/2004 20:07:35 just... do something before ppl start to reach 20m sp, because losing SPs because you cant get a better clone would sucks big time... and at this rate, we're talking of about 3 months to do something about it... so... soon(tm) sounds like a good estimate

Since adding new pluses to A++++++ will soon get confusing I suggest new clones to be called "C squared","B squared" and "A squared" etc.

GREAT idea about letting players make super clones!
let us 'create super clone' in a lab slot, using biomass as the material. the player couold set the number of corpses to use, which would determine how many skill points would be saved.
so maybe 100 frozen corpses makes a super clone, 200 makes an even better one, etc. the result could be a 'clone contract' that could be used or sold to another player on escrow like a bpc.

This problem has been exacerbated by the introduction of new, and higher ranked, skills post release. Even with a relatively narrow choice of specialisation it is not possible to retain full clone coverage for training all relevant skills to level 5.
What should happen as an interim stop gap measure is that the points protected by the existing clones should be increased just like the warp speed of smaller ships has been increased. A major benefit of this is that it prevents more +'s being added to the already overworked clone level labels.
Longer term, clones need to keep pace with characters. IMHO character death is harsh enough as it is and already represents a loss of skill points being those that you miss out on if you can't afford to replace implants. If characters out grow the best clone then I can see players taking fewer risks, doing less, playing less, trying other MMORPG's, and quitting EVE.

I'm not convinced the jack of all trades option is a good one. At least, not from a MMO perspective. Sure, it's convenient for the player. ____________________________________________ Ideas Lab - Forum Search Feature - Sign me! |

I'm surprised I haven't heard our Amarr friends clamor for "reprocessing live slaves" into superior clones.
[ooc] A new "Clone Manufacturing" skill at rank 9 would be pretty cool: the higher the skill, the higher the # of skill points retained.
Of course, the facility to create your clone would cost a small fortune
