Hello
Anyone knows the formula to the cap cost of warping ?
I am flying a Lachesis for a while and I've notice that it consumes a lot of Cap in each jump, I have Warp Drive Operations IV but still on med and large jumps the cap cost seems too big regarding other ships.
Below is a test I'ved made each ship jumped 37AU away several times, this are the aproximatley cap costs:
Dominix 320 Brutix 230 Celestis 190
Lachesis 310
Its hard to get precise numbers just by watching the cap meter but this are about right. The Lachesis consumation seen a lot higher than it should be.
Is the cost type based (like Recons pay more) or its class bases, Lachesis pay more than a comparable ship ? Or is this a bug ?
Thanks a lot

I think the cap cost is based on the mass of the ship. Interceptors can easily make a long distance warp. The lachesis has more mass than the Celestis, (not sure if you got a plate on there too?) so it consumes more cap to warp.

I thought about that but the mass is the same and I dont have any plate fitted in neither ship.
The only diference would be in warp speed 3.0 AU in Celestis to 3.75 AU in Lachesis.
Could be it ? Although without a formula I really dont see the relation in the numbers.
Thanks

Formula is around here somewhere, if you can find it ofc, but if memory serves correctly there attribute, warp cap amount or something along those lines. Recons for example, cannot warp the same distance hacs can, it's a built in weakness. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

Same thing with the Falcon.
Train Warp Drive Op to 5 and max your cap skills.

Here's the specifics:
Go to one of the 3rd party item databases online such as coldfront, or use the ship browser in EVEMon. You're looking for the "warpCapacitorNeed" stat. It is not listed in game or on the official item database. This will be a very small number, and it represents how much cap is needed for that ship to warp 1kg of mass 1 AU. The actual warp speed of the ship is not a factor for how much cap it uses.
So the formula would be: <warpCapacitorNeed> x (1 - <WarpDriveOp> x 0.1) x <Mass> x <Distance> = Cap
Where warpCapacitorNeed is that stat you looked up, which can be different for all ships.
WarpDriveOp is your warp drive operation skill level.
Mass is your ship mass including any and all mass modifiers including plates and nanos as well as things like microwarpdrives. Warping while your MWD is active will consume a lot more cap.
Distance is in AU.
As an example, a falcon with a 1600mm plate has a mass of 16,750,000 kg with a warpCapNeed stat of 1.25 x 10^-6 or 0.00000125. With warp drive op 5, that goes down to 0.000000625. A skilled falcon with a MWD has about 1025 cap so doing some math we see that..
16.75 x 0.625 = 10.5 cap per AU warped 1025 / 10.5 = almost 98 AU maximum warp range with full cap or about 1% cap per AU warped.
Now lets try that again with a non plated MWD Vagabond. warpCapNeed = 8.13 x 10^-7 down to 4.065 with L5 WarpDriveOp Mass = 10M kg even. 10 x 0.4065 = 4.065 cap per AU warped 996 / 4.065 = 245 AU maximum warp range with full cap or about 0.4% cap per AU warped.

Do Trimarks factor into that?

Trimarks do not alter the mass of your ship, so no.
