I am looking for a little advice on what my long term goals should be to get the most out of Eve.
I started out as an Amarr soldier a few weeks ago and have access to Cruisers, tech 2 small turrets (both types) and have been investing my training time in fitting and learning skills. I can run both my cruisers with cap stable set ups and rat specific tanks.
I have access to level 2 missions, which are okay. I have been enjoying Belt ratting in 0.6/0.5 systems and running the youl complex for salvage and I have been making more Isk doing this then mission running. I tend to use a frigate for ratting even tho I have two cruisers parked up.
I've avoided PVP so far mainly due to investing in +3 implants while I get my fitting skills up, but have been thinking about Faction Warfare/Lo-sec or 0.0
I am kinda confused whether I should be moving into a Battlecruiser or tech 2 frigates and whether I should be thinking about trying to get to 0.0 since I seem to enjoy belt ratting complex running more then missions so far.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Edited by: Mal Lokrano on 10/09/2008 17:33:16 most would say go for the cheap stuff first as bigger is normally not better for pvp. I know firsthand how trying to fight in a big ship against a smaller ship without the proper skills can gimp you to losing (lost a megathron to a thorax). First is to work on support skills, which it seems you have some but there are planty out there that are also helpful. Then t1 frigs and cruisers, then t2 frigs and cruisers (if your aiming for pvp). T1 Battleships and t2 Battleships (and battlecruisers for that matter) require alot of support skills and knowledge in order to field them correctly.
Plus since they are expensive you might not want to be loosing very expensive ships to pvp till your isk income can easily make up for the losses. I reccomend pvping in cheap t1 frigs and maybe later t2 frigs and t1 cruisers, until you feel comfortable fighting against other players.
Just to add, 0.0 shouldn't be taken lightly, as most characters out there can easily outmatch you in sp and skills wise. Wait until you have at least 5 million sp before seriously considering 0.0, although if you find a corp that is willing to take you in and help you along it might not be to bad.

Your post will probably initiate a deluge of corp invites.
join a good corp - the next step towards defining and realising long term goals.

I am in more or less the same boat as you Quintus. I have just recently gotten my first cruiser. I strongly recommend joining a corp, the knowledge they can give you in PvP combat alone is worth a look, not to mention the other more material resources they can help you with. If you're interested you can contact me in game and I can give you over to one of my corp's recruiters.
