I'm thinking of retooling my personal fleet of 5 pilots for 5 Domis.
High: 1x Large remote rep II 4x Drone Link Aug
Mid: 1x 100mn AB II 1x Sensor Booster II 3x Omnidirectional Tracking
Low: 4x Cap Power Relay II 2x Mission specific 1x Mission specific
Rigs: 1x Sentry Drone 2x CCC
Drones: 5x Curator II 5x Garde II 5x Hammerhead II
I'm trying to avoid putting any turrets since that would require additional micromangement.
Any suggestions to improve the setup?

Drop a drone link augmenter, add a energy transfer array. With the right skills (i think its t2 module and level 4 energy emission systems) you can generate free cap by transferring these back and forth. With those on, you might be able to drop a cpr for a 4th hardener.
You also should not need that many cpr's, even if you drop to 3. I would swap another with a large armor rep. You should be able to manage running the large armor rep, large remote armor rep, and energy transfer array. You might need to drop an omni to do this, and replace a cap recharger.
I think you would want some local large reps, in case you have a catastrophic failure of your spider tank somehow :)

That is an interesting idea. With 2 Egress port max rigs which reduce cap usage of energy transfer array, and lvl 4 in energy emission, I would be netting 27.8cap/sec. If I fit 3 of them, then I get 83.4cap/sec, or enough to perma run 3 LAR IIs. And I could remove all the CPR IIs for omni-tank resists. So...

By selling them? Aside from that, exploration.

I do some exploration in 0.0; three of those have probing skills so that I can probe three times as fast. But still, I can't say that 0.0 plexing is that profitable over the time spent probing them down and running them.
Maybe mining may be the best way to go. I don't know. I have thought about doing level 5s, but those are in unsafe lowsec areas. Level 4s could be good, maybe do 4 / 5 missions at the same time with afk-domi setups... I don't know.

Instead of 5x Domi, use one or two of the characters for salvaging and looting. A salvagecane or two will take care of most things rather nicely.

Edited by: AstroPhobic on 12/09/2008 04:54:34 1x Tank (Nighthawk, damnation, claymore... doesn't really matter) 1x Logistics (shield/armor appropriate for the tank)
3x gank (Raven, CNR, Abaddon, Apoc, Nightmare, Navy Mega, or any of the marauders)
Edit: One person? Talk about overkill.
For missions, just have each domi run a dual lar tank and unleash drones/approach gate. For plexes, see above, replace gank with domi I suppose.

i run lvl.4's with two account. a sleipnir for tank and a CNR for DPS, though both of them can tank fine. and when the mission is about 80-90% complete my main leaves and fetch the salvagecane. works rather nicely imo

It doesn't sound too crazy if he's doing Lv5s or tougher exploration sites, they can be pretty tough.
I'd imagine he'd want at least one of them to be a bit more tank-oriented though.

I tri-box while running missions, and it's enough to almost make my arm fall off... I'm pretty sure it's actually giving me carpal tunal. I think 3 is the magic number, one person can handle and not actually be more of a hindrance than help.
It really is a flurry of thousands of clicks over a few hours
Target - Activate Missles - Approach Gate click click click click click click click click click click alt tab Target - Activate Missiles - Approach Gate click click click click click click click click click click alt tab Target - Activate Tractor Beam - Afterburner - Salvage Modules click click click click click click click click click click
Aside from that thought, it's highly profitable, I do it with the following:
2x CNR's loaded out for max damage 1x Salvaging battle cruiser that always follows one step behind
For the really big missions, I dock one of the CNR's and grab a second salvaging BC to make quick work of the wrecks. I tried out Marauders, but honestly this way is quicker for me... I can't be arsed to salvage while I'm blowing everything up.
I've tried different combinations of battleships, and I really don't think it gets much better than dual CNR's I would really like to try a Dominix, but with the changes in the aggro in missions over the years I almost think it's more trouble than it's worth. Continually losing drones, or a Battleship to Aggro en masse
My favorite is when I get Guristas missions, and they Jam my lead CNR, well i just load the FOF cruises and continue decimating everything.

Pretty close to what I do, except I use a nighthawk and a CNR. A nighthawk just tears through smaller ships.

you dont need 5 ships to do explo / missions.
your specced for gallente, personally id use-
1. eos tank. 2. logistics to cover tank / all ships. 3/4/5 - dominix or megas depending on mission / explo
profit.
eos is a very underated ship but imho it tanks much better than a nighthawk, and you can permarun a dual rep 1600 plated high resist tank using t2 items.

All that clicking is exactly why I use Sentry drone Domis without turrets. With a tank in the lead, I just launch the drones, and set them to guard the tank. I don't need to lock the rats, activate weapons, switch targets, activate weapons again, lock more rats, etc.
I have cleaned up whole rooms of plexes with maybe a dozen mouse clicks total.
At about 400DPS per Domi it goes rather smoothly. The tank drops hammerheads to clean up the small rifraff. Interestingly enough, sentry drones go automatically after the large targets first, whereas Hammerheads go after small targets. (Good job CCP.)
If more waves spawn, I just use the CCP provided hotkeys to pick up all the sentry drones immediatly and wait for the agro to switch to the ships, then relaunch and re-guard.

4 passive tanked ishtar's 1 salvaging command ship with the appropriate gang links on.
draw agro from a different group with each ship, release drones and forget about it, warp in your salvager and profit.

I fly a couple of Ishtars right now. The problem is that in order to passive fit them, you'd need the med slots that are taken up by Omnidirectional tracking links and a sensor booster. Using Ogres is alright, but if new waves spawn, it takes forever for them to get back.

Here's something that's worked before:
2x Domis 3x Guardians
Domi 1 releases drones, it's drones get repped by gaurdian 1, gaurdian 1 reps gaurdian 3, gaurdian 2 reps gaurdian 3 and domi 2's drones, gaurdian 3 reps domis.
When I saw this setup being used, there was also a salvagecane being repped by guardian 3.
