I personally think that focuses mediums at this moment in time are pretty much pointless especially on a tanking ship. Usually if im in a tanking ship, i drop these weapons in favor for medium pulses (yes smalls ) the reason being because you lose a grand total of 30 dps at most. In return you get 500+ pg freed up for more plates/boosters/etc.
At the moment i think these are in need of a slight boost, enough to bring it to the true midway point between medium pulses and heavy pulses.
Thoughts?

You are aware that FMPs get a lot more range and 14.28% more DPS, not even counting ship bonuses, right?

Not to mention electron blasters compared to neutron blasters from one size smaller.

If you're going to go with small close range guns for grid savings, use small neutrons. ------------------ For Medicinal Use Only. |

FMPs are useful same as DHPs. As the dps drop isnt that big and neither is the range drop and it frees up grid for tight fits. Because the range is so similar to heavy pulses its not even stupid to mix 1 or 2 of them in for fits where you need the grid.

Edited by: Terianna Eri on 12/09/2008 18:16:10 The FMP use less cap as well, since you get a cap bonus for them...
But to contribute more to the thread, I've kind of always wanted to see a third medium-size pulse laser, since atm there are only 2 whereas every other gun weapon system has 3.
Unfortunately to be in line with beams it'd have to be one tier lower, thereby making it useless; I'd like to see something in between FMP and HPL.
Perhaps increase the range, damage, fitting reqs etc of FMP II and make it the 2nd tier gun and create like... I dunno. Quad Light Pulse? Dual Medium Pulse?
That'd have one good hell of a tracking speed though, could be fun. Stick 'em on a zealot and you have a giant ridiculous destroyer. __________________________________

I want a 560mm artillery too. And a 1600 artillery. And a 320mm artillery. And tachyon pulse. And quad light pulse.

Ah but there are alot of times you cant fit a 3rd hs, eg plate harb, and fmp + 3 hs > hp w 2 hs 1 fitting mod. Actually, something 95% of ppl overlook with the nanoed zealot is that fmp with scorch hit beyond scram range, track better, fit easier and allow more damage mods increasing dps with improved tracking increasing hits increasing dps.
tjhe lack of 3 tiers like other races makes the gap more pronounced, at least visually, but after you get used to them they work, they work very well with oversized plates ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
