I am a hardcore drone pilot. Well as far as combat drones are concerned. But I am tempted to go into the electronic warfare drones too. So I am curious ho effective they are when comparing them to actual modules on your ships?
For example, how are the target painter drones and ECM ? ECCM drones different from the modules? Better or worse? Or what would happen if one stacks 5 target paining drones, would that equate to a target painting module?
Thanks in advance for any information. Since I can't make heads or tails of this.

The general consensus is "ECM or go home". I hear some people praise web and TP drones, but personally I think they're a bit of a waste.
ECM drones are indeed nasty, and a must have for any solo cruiser/bc hull.

If web modules get nerfed in the nan-patch, web drones won't be so bad, really. But generally you are right, stacking penalities makes almost all EW drones quite useless. Especially sensor dampening and tracking disruptor ones.

Let me tell you my experience with ecm drones: when they r used against me they jam me more than 70% of the fight, when i use them against some1 else, they jam less than 30% of the fight :(. I have bad luck with ecm drones, and ecm in general, got jammed twice by 5 small ecm drones while having 2 ECCM active on a Dominix(it was a specific setup for a single purpose, don't think i have 2 eccm on my domi's at all times :))!!!

You're assuming that they'll keep their 30% effectiveness though.

Yes you can't spam return and attack to get them to perma jam.

Nice. What about drones that got a jam cycle in and return to bay within the cycle, will the jam cycle abort?

Vespa EC-600's (medium ECM drones) are brilliant.
I would say unless your flying something like a curse or another ship that can't really field heavy drones or needs drone damage go for ECM drones every time. __________________________________________

In what little PvP I get to do these days (just became a triplet dady!), I have found that the ECM drones are very effective. I fly Amarr and Amarr ships do not have the mids that Caldari ships have, so the ECM drones are very useful. I'm sure I've suprised more that a few pilots when an Amarr ship pops out ECM drones.

I just use damage drones and ECCM, personally. Gives all the ECM drone users a nasty shock Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

I use ECM drones as a "get out of jail free" card when a fight goes bad, but I usually don't use them DURING the fight itself.

Yes, I am. Considering they are borderline useful now it wouldn't make sense to nerf them. I expect them to remain the same, like ECM drones when ECM modules's strengh was halved.

I'm more keen to know whether they'll start a new cycle as soon as they're re-deployed....

There is a foolproof way to test your theory, it involves an internet connection, an Eve client, a computer and a corpmate/alt. I expect a report on my desk by morning.

Oh but this involves something called 'Effort' which for someone as lazy as myself is asking too much.
Besides, why go through all that trouble testing when someone here may know the answer anyway?
