Hi. Noob question alert: Inty's are for web and scram right? And they speed tank?
So that would make it useful in FW blob wars wouldn't it?
If I'm right about all that, which one is the best ?

worth mentioning that there are two tiers of interceptors, one designed for tackling and one decided for combat. The tackle inties (Ares, Malediction, Raptor, Stiletto) get a 5% bonus to warp disruptor range and not as much hardpoints or damage bonuses. As you can imagine, they are better suited to tackling and usually have lower dps compared to their combat counterparts.
The combat inties (Claw, Crow, Crusader, Taranis) get a large damage bonus as their frigate bonus. i.e. Taranis gets 50% to small hybrid damage. They are nice for fighting other interceptors or performing an anti-support role. (they can still tackle pretty well too)
to speedtank with an inty you should aim to hit above 5km/s.
As for the best one, there isn't one really. Just avoid the raptor at all costs unless you have a low budget. The crow is probably the easiest combat one to use for beginners as tracking isn't as important. My favourites would have to be a Blasteranis, Railranis and Pulsader.

it tries to be a tackling interceptor that can go "long range" with rails while being the slowest, fattest, and can't pack a full rack of rails bigger than T2 75mm gatlings due to grid, all because CCP deemed an interceptor that has grid for 3 T2 150's with mwd and a single MAPC (you need one to even fit 3 125's), with a single 25% damage bonus, no tracking bonus and range bonus, "overpowered".
thus the nickname of craptor ---

Inties are definitely "for scram", but I'd be a little hesitant to saying they're meant to web targets as a matter of course. Since, if you can web the target, he can web you, and in most interceptors that spells certain death.
Now as with all rules there are exceptions - ships that aren't fitting a web, ships with large guns and no drones, really small ships that you can tank for long enough for them to die - but on the whole, the whole mantra of flying an interceptor, especially a tackling interceptor, involves staying out of web range.
Depending on what your specific role would be, I'd even go so far as to put a sensor booster in the third mid slot, as the scan resolution of an interceptor is one of its finest points - it can get the initial tackle on very quickly, and improving this further will be relevant if you want to catch pods or agile frigates coming through a gate.

Yes - and no. On a blasterranis I don't want to miss my webifier. But the decision to get into webber range cannot be reverted in most cases and someone is going to die. That can be your target or you...

Yar, my BlasteRanis is typically the only 'Ceptor that I fly that packs a web. If we run across a gate-ponging target, I'll pick one up locally if needed and use it for that fight.
On everything else I skip the web in favor of speed, cap stability, and/or DPS. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

If your chosen inty has the mids to spare always fit a web to use against other intys, and if its needed use it to web big stuff there are to many ***** faced inty pilots who are scared to die, if the FC calls for webs give him webs.

The Raptor is not bad. Sure, other interceptors may outperform it (namely taranis & crusader) but it is NOT bad.

I would happily take on any blaster Taranis in that. However, there are things to avoid such as DLP Sader & rail Taranis. All in all, it really depends on your ability as a pilot and not orbit->f1 f2 f3 f4. - FRIGANK |
