Ω
Loans for Everyone*
No collateral needed
*=except trial accounts
Background:
So far, at least to my knowlege, noone offers small simple loans without collateral in the EVE-universe. This is now about to change. Now, it would be unfair to say that I don't expect to make some ISK out of this venture, but I also take quite a risk, since I put my trust in You - my fellow EVE-players - to make good on your word when you sign up for a loan.
I have set aside 500m ISK to be used in this first experiment to be divided among a number of microloans, more about that below, and it is my hope that this venture will work our so I can continue to provide this service to the playerbase.
So, I want a loan - What do I do
First off - you should keep reading. The most important stuff is listed under "terms" below. Second - be aware that there is a limited amount of ISK going in to this experiment, so the service may not be available at all times.
You will also be required to submit to some questions, sign a "contract" (a forumpost basically) and most importantly not be on a trial-account.
Once the formalities are done with, you will have the ISK in your wallet and be free to spend them. Just remember you will have to pay them back + interest within the agreed time.
Terms:
One loan per character only
Max loan amount: 50m ISK (will be decided on individual basis) Interest: 10% per week Repayment time: per agreement.
Isk available for loans: 500m
I reserve the right to decide whom to grant a loan.
Ok, sign me up! What do I do
First: Reply to this thread with your main character and the amount you need (up to 50m ISK max). Second: Send an eve-mail to "Cainam" with the same info. Third: Wait. It may take up to 24 hrs for me to process your loan, pending there are free "loan-slots" and you pass the screening process.
Finally, If this initial test is sucessful services will be extended to higher amounts and more / other services may be provided. I hope that this little banking-venture will help some of the newbies coming to EVE and other players in a tight spot in need of some quick cash.
Also, English isn't my first language, so sorry if there's some errors in this post.
Good luck to us all!

Great service being offered in concept but 520% per annum interest rate? geesh. Good luck with this experiment anyway, interested in how it all works out.

Heh, well, if you count per year the interest is *errr* high... But for long-term loans you have the choice of opening an account at one of the banks in EVE. (Which usually needs you to put some cash in an account there)
In this case the "high" interest is motivated by the risk I'm taking, and also, you're not expected to take a loan for long durations. This service is mostly for those quick cash injections needed when you're in a pinch. I wouldn't expect anyone to take a 50m loan for more than a few weeks at most anyway.
Anyhoo - everything's up for discussion at this stage, and IF you for some reason would need a small loan to run over the course of a year or so just let me know and we'll work something out

You should link this to the newbie forum and set a much lower limit, say 2.5 or 5 mil per character to make it more realistic for newer players and to also contain your losses when a few decided to screw up. --------------------------- sok alt - main got banzored |

Thank you for that idea, linked it to the newbie-forums aswell, hopefully someone there will find it useful. As for the lower limit, well - there's nothing that stops you from taking a smaller loan, or nothing that stops me from only granting smaller loans

Very interesting and pretty bold to take the chance to lend isk without collateral protection.
I'm not in the market for a loan but I might be interested in helping you out should all your isk be taken up (for a cut obviously). Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss the formalities. -

Free bump for an interesting and needed service.
10% a week is downright low for a no-collateral loan in EVE outside of your own friends and/or corp (or possibly alliance), and having this be available to everyone is hugely helpful to traders who need liquidity instantly for an opportunity, new players starting out, or old players in a jam but without many connections.
I hope you can make some profit out of this as well.

Just a heads up for anyone getting their hopes up. This dude is rejecting loans without any basis. Contacted him concerning a sum, and was told that i didn't pass the screening even tho i hadn't had as much as a conversation with him yet. He neither asked me any screening questions as stated in his post, didn't do any background check with my corp or corp-mates, and you certainly aren't going to find info on eve players on google, unless they are VERY PROMINENT players such as Chribba. So WHAT EXACTLY is this sophisticated screening process of his? If he likes your name/avatar you get a loan? Who knows?! I even asked him what his method was, if none of the above, including the questions he claimed he would ask. He said he "couldn't divulge that information", i guess hes scared incase anyone uses his amazing techniques (which probably involves flipping a coin). Anyways this was just an advance warning for any hopeful applicants.

Sorry that you don't appreciate this service being offered.
As for my screening methods I still won't tell you exactly what they involve, but I'm sure anyone with an honest intention don't mind them, and secondly any somewhat experienced player with half a brain would easily figure out what I can and can't find out.
First off, I gave you every opportunity to get a loan. I gave you the choice to either accept a lower amount or find someone to co-sign the loan with you. You refused - or simply wasn't interested. And lets not even get into... *sigh*
Heck - I don't even need to explain myself, I'll let our convo speak for itself for anyone interested.
Linked chatlog since I don't want to clutter this post up with crap
To everyone else - the first 50m are out there - let's hope this goes well so I can keep offering this service!
Still 450m available for loans!

The other day I was like talking with some guys at Lehman Brothers asking them for a loan and they didn't wanna give it to me and I was like 'lol I was only messing with you I really wanted to invest' but they blew it and now they're bankrupt.
Coincidence? I don't think so.

That wasn't the point i was making, the point i was making was that you CLAIMED there was some sort of screening process for these loans, and you obviously didn't do any screening at all. Nowhere in your original post does it say that to qualify, you have to have a co-signer. If you really DID have a screening process (which you clearly dont), and someone had not passed said process, THEN it would be understandable if you offered them terms in which someone could co-sign for the amount. Fact is you had no basis for requesting a co-signer as you didn't do any background check in the first place. What you are looking for (understandably), is for someone to fall back on if the original applicant disappears with your isk, and this should be part of your pre-requisits so as not to mislead people. Im not here to argue with you or slander your service, im just informing people not to get their hopes up, as your original post makes your service seem more simple than it really is. Wish you and your potential customers the best of luck with this project.

Right. I took a look at both sides of this, and the chat log that was posted.
You'er not a month into the game. You claim to have been testing him and wanting to offer 2 billion as an investment now Your alliance is a little shy of two months old Your corp is shy of two months old The founders of the alliance and corp are less then two months old
The whole alliance looks a little seedy to me. Alt front for another force would be my first guess.
If I was looking at you for investment, you've got a group of 1 month olds in a 1 month old corp in a 1 month old alliance that cost 1 billion it's self to form, plus whatever fees you paid the guy who's now in AXIS to form it.
So, A) You're all very creative and able to generate a lot of isk very quickly for 1 month olds, in which case you don't need a lousy 50m isk loan B) You're an alt of someone who odds are has more then 50m as it is, and are just trying to skim 40 minutes of ratting or some other reason, but don't need the money.
Now I'm curious, which is it? Whatever it is, I would of denied your loan too. Let someone else who really needs it have access to the funds. ________________________________

If Cainam decides that your character is uneligible for a large loan by one way or another then I don't see that he needs to prove anything to anyone. It's his isk that he's putting out there and it's his choice at the end of the day as to whom he grants the loan.
It may have been a single simple question that he asked or the fact that you are to young to trust without a "guarantor".
Whatever his reasons just respect his decision and be on your merry way.
All the best Cainam and props for taking a risk on helping the less fortunate of the EvE community.

*laughs* That gave me a chuckle.
It's an awesome idea, rates are fine for what you're getting, and terms (up to and including completely arbitrary ones) are likewise understandable.
It's a shame you really can't tie it to anything like they do in Africa and India (f.ex. cell phones). (Hint: CCP, implement cross-account debt with penalties!)
Ignoring the ****ed off scammer (honestly, who else would fish for a "larrrger" loan) -- free bump.

Official Update
Hello everyone!
First I'd like to thank all the posters here for their support and positive feedback - it feels kinda good to hear that I'm offering an appreciated service. Hopefully it will work out the way I intended so I can scale this up a notch once I know it won't bite me in the ass too hard.
As for the business itself I must say it's a tad slower than I expected. I was prepared for an utter and complete flooding of my mailbox, but so far only a handful of brave souls have come forward wanting a loan. I'll try to remember to present some statistics later on, when the service has been available for some time so people have some more time to notice it.
Anyhoo - at the time of this post there's still 450m available for loans in different shapes and sizes, and with some luck I hope to see an increase in the number of applicants over the weekend.
Fly safe everyone - and remember, if you hear that someone is short on ISK it won't hurt to let them know I'm open for business!

Maybe it could be that as your the type of person that doesnt know where the caps lock is, then your the type of person that doesnt deserve a loan.
Hey, havent I seen you in Jita selling you 'CNR' thats really just a Raven? It could however be that the std procedure is to refuse a loan of the amount requested, and to see your reactions? If thats the case, well your truly an epic fail of epic nature (to the degree of epic)
Wow - you managed to learn the name Chribba in your month of play, your very special.
Stick to your hi sec mining or your lvl 1's pal.
Have a fantastic day

Another little update...
Hello again everyone!
Again, WOW!! I never thought this little venture would yield so much attention and positive feedback! Since the last update I've gotten a few requests from players wanting to invest in this little venture - and to you interested in investing let me just say that I'm very flattered by your offers, but at this point I rather not risk anyones ISK but my own.
Remember that this is just an experiment, and so far I've gotten more mails and offers from potential investors than from players actually wanting a loan!
If this pans out the way I'm hoping I may open up some investment opportunities down the road and take this venture public in some form, but for now I'd like to get confirmation that it works as intended before letting someone else putting their hard-earned ISK on the line...
Finally, to all of you interested in investing or helping out in some form or another - at the moment it seems that what I need most is more clients - so if you want to help out, just let people know that I'm here and open for business!
Again, thank you all for your positive feedback!
