Wow... That's ridiculous. I thought public parks were for everyone not just mother and child?

Nope. Just mother and child. Everyone else is either a pedophile, kidnapper, or a combination of both.

madness.
oh wait, this is a daily mail article
/ceases to take seriously
after some digging though, as ridiculous and blown-out of all proportion most daily mail articles are (**** racoons!), it looks like this may have some substance -
another source from the rag to the area in question Shropshire Star
The Telegraph
Also a link to a local forum, where one of the evicted penguins ( ) has made a few posts under the pseudonym 'Shropshire Lass' which sheds a bit of light on their motivation, interpretation and opinion - of particular interest the arguement that the rules apply predominantly to children's play areas, and her arguement that they were nowhere near a child's play area when questioned.
From reading all this stuff, my opinion is that protecting the children was simply a pretext from removing 'troublemakers' from the park; that particular pretext has backfired a bit. I think the council would have been better off if they had just been honest and said "we don't like you distributing your ideologue in our park - leave."
But as a general policy (which I don't think it is, but if it was...), it's fear-mongering madness, particularly ironic is that if a genuine pedo actually has a child with them in the park, they'd be safer in what they were doing under this than before Guilty until proven innocent etc etc

This reminds me of the time some friends went to Chuckie Cheeze when we were in college. They wouldn't let them in because they didn't have any kids with them, so they then proceeded to ask random families in the parking lot if they could borrow their children to get in. Didn't work, but was a good start. Other option go with someone who is small enough to pass as a child, you can just say they are 12 or something if asked, and only on closer inspection can you see they are older. On of my friends plays that all the time. The best way they can protect would be monitor the high risk areas because a blanket policy over such a large area is going to anger lots of people and make trouble. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

I had a situation at a motel once. I booked to stay for two nights with my gf on our way from Heathrow to Aberdeen (600 miles). The guy at the desk asked if she was over 16. I was shocked and really insulted that he'd effectively accused me of being a pedophile. Regardless of the fact that my 25 year old gf nearly punched his lights out , I reported him to the manager the next day.
It's getting stupid now. I know we have to protect kids from pedophiles etc but not by accusing everyone of being one.
As a security guard in a shopping mall, I had to deal with lost kids all the time. I even got accused once of trying to abduct a kid. The mother had walked off to a shop outside the mall and left her 4 year old daughter on her own, playing near the kiddie rides. A concerned shopper reported it to me and I stood with the girl and radio'd the control room to report it. While I was trying to coax a description of the mother out of the girl so I could relay it on the radio for a camera search from the control room, the mother came back as if everything was normal and started accusing me of trying to take her kid away. I was so livid, I couldn't even talk to her. My manager came down and explained it and told her that if she did it again in the mall, he would call the social services and have the kid legally taken away from her. Even after the explanation and before the warning, I never even got an apology, she was about to just walk away with her kid and ignore us when my manager gave her the warning. She did it again a week later and my manager stuck with the warning. Social services turned up with the police and took the girl into care, right in front of the mother who had returned by this time. Better the social services than some pedophile which is what would have happened if the mother had kept on leaving her daughter all alone in a busy shopping mall.

No joke dude, this woman was in front of me today, with a 3 year old girl... I used to be dating a girl that had a 3 year old little girl... Was a "Dad" for a short while...I thought about complimenting her but with things the way they are today she would've probably given me a hard way to go...
Kinda sad really. _______________________________________ Sig? where. There's no sig here. |

my partner has children from her marriage, the elder one is 14, but in all honestly could look about two years older.
I regularly take her out to art galleries and the likes. She has, on several occasions, walked along arm in arm and leant on my shoulder as we're viewing things.
I'm more than twice her age, and the number of dirty looks I've had from people in such galleries, presumably assuming I'm some sort of kiddy-fiddling nonce is, frankly astounding.
it does make me want a t-shirt saying "no, I'm F****** her mother. are you a sick pervert to assume worse?"
(posted under my alt, just in case some friend of hers is an eve player, somehow manages to associate my main's name with my online nickname, and associates that with her mother's Livejournal, and causes a "oh my GOD! you're sleeping with my MUM!" drama... )

Wut? So. Car thief wouldn't be allowed into a park? Or a school? Or anywhere?

I used to like british people and was even thinking of moving there, now I just laugh at them for being told how to behave through speakers attached to surveillance cameras.

Starting to turn? People have been griping about it for years. But that's the trouble. All the changes that curtail our freedoms have been too small for anyone to really stir up a revolution over. So it's been gradually getting worse and worse, and nobody is prepared to stick their necks out to really do something about it.
