This was a Question on the Tail of Another Post, But I feel it needs more exposure, so I gave it it's Own Topic. =)
Quote: Hmmmmn, Ok now that's a conflicting piece of info. Someone else told me in a post a few days ago that the Jetcan pop time was ONE hour, BUT, it went on a cyclic time basis, in other words, if you create the Jetcan @ 10:00pm, it has a one hour life span, but the system may not run a "Can Check" for 20 minutes after you create it, so you would in effect have 1HR and 20Min till pop. Consequently, you will never have LESS than an hour, but no gaurantee of extended time past an hour, unless you had access to the "Can Check" schedule. Now you say the Jetcan pop time is PRECISELY two hours from creation. Can someone clarify this issue for me?? thanx alot =)

I don't know about all the fancy "can checks" but in my experience an unnamed can will last for 1 hour. If you name the can as soon as you drop it it will last for 2 hours.
When mining I name the can with a time stamp of when it was dropped and I've tested the time on them by leaving 1 unit of whatever in there to see when it pops. It's always been right at 2 hours.

An Actual Case Study, Thanx Very Much. 1 Hour for Non-Named, 2 Hours for Named, BUT, you MUST name it right when U drop it for it to last 2 Hours? |

I'm not 100% sure on whether you have to name it as soon as you drop it to get the full 2 hours. It's just the habit I've gotten into. Drop the can, name it, open it to drag more ore in.
I use the format "<pilot name> - <current eve time>" (so you end up with something like "Bendenn - 4:00") during mining ops so haulers always know when cans are due to pop. When the can is full the miner adds "FULL" to the beginning of the name, haulers can sort their overview by name and the full cans all show up together. It just makes life easier in the belts.
Just to be clear this isn't something I've done extensive testing on so maybe sometimes you do get an extra 20 minutes or so on the can. But I can say for sure I've had named cans pop at the 2 hour mark.

What he said.
They pop in exactly two hours, to the minute, unless downtime hits beforehand in which case i'm pretty sure they won't be there when the server comes back up. --------------------------

I have had a jet can 61 minutes old pop, I have also had one last 14 hours and through a downtime.
It's based on how busy the node is, which means the cleanup will run more often. Of course there's no way to really predict when it will run, so keep them less than an hour old to be safe.

This is the answer. I always start hauling my cans at 1h50m after I poped the first one.
