There is no other keyboard than this.
I honestly can't understand the people that pay more than $15 for a keyboard that has "shiney lights" or "macros." Great, macros. How about I just click "run?" Or make my own hotkey for frags on BF?
Not to mention most of the recent styles of keyboards are complete crap because they're too shallow (keys barely can be pressed down, hard to tell if you've even pressed the key - like laptop keyboards but worse), they stick, or they're too quiet.
I love my loud, clacky, easy to press keyboard. Sadly my favorite keyboard of all time died a horrible death when one of the PS2 prongs got bent. It was the loudest clackiest keyboard ever...

For me it's whatever comes with the computer. Haven't had a issue with any of them yet. Got 2 on the desk and 3 more in a closet.
And clacky's, yeeeesss, one of the people I talk to on skype has one. He complains about my tv being too loud and yet each time he types, which is often, it overpowers any sound out there. It got to the point where I believe each time I fire a missile it goes clacky.

Old Cherry keyboards ftw, partly because they're indestructable and because you can use more than 3 keys at the same time. Most keyboards can't do that. I DO use a G15 nowadays...

I have the Saitek Eclipse II and it's prob my favourite KB ever
Isn't full of needless amounts of media/macro keys that you'll never use, and has a beautiful backlight which you can toggle between 3 diff colours Very useful when it's dark. The keys are pretty comfy too.

Cause I type with 1 finger while looking at my keyboard in the dark.

Edited by: pwnedgato on 19/09/2008 05:36:58 I have ben using the same HP Kb for so long all of the white paint on all of the keys (except for some function keys) has worn off completely. Even the little nibs that used to show the home keys have been worn down.

Providing it has the proper layout, It doesn't bother me.
Perhaps i'm one of those crazy people that can touchtype efficiently on any keyboard I'm using.
Logitech G15 here though. The screen is handy for showing me ingame stats that would otherwise be in its own window, and the backlight is nice. Also the Macro keys are useful for the F1-F8 salute in one press, or other crap I can easily record.
Long ago I had a keyboard who's keys were mounted on 124 micro-switches.
That was the noisest thing in existence. Yes. Louder than the IBM Model M. No Buckling Spring, just a nice little Click On Click Off Microswitch under every key.
Then again, Most typing elitists use keyboards like this, burrito grime compulsory.

I have the g15 (mk1) and I love it. Adjustable blue backlight, programmable lcd, lots of macros, durable. A large amount of customizability for many different games. I love it, especially having suffered from generic keyboards for years. Frankly, I can't imagine why people would stick with basic keyboards.
I guess it's like trying to convince someone they 'need' a modern mouse with more than two buttons. You have to try them before you realize why so many people upgrade.
So there :P

My only criteria for a good keyboard are if it's comfortable to use and responds to my inputs. Since I've broken both of my wrists, one of them twice, I find ergonomic ones more comfortable. I love my Logitech Wave. It's much better than an MS ergonomic, both in feel and response, though my pinkies will probably suffer for not having to use so much force to press the Shift keys.

Edited by: Rialtor on 26/09/2008 21:05:46 The standard layout for a keyboard is actually bad for you. The standard keyboard is actually better for a left handed person than a right handed person.
The mouse and keyboard should both be directly in front of you. The numpad on the right makes it so the mouse is further out than it should be. Numpads should be on the left side of the keyboard, removed entirely, or used with a vertical mouse that is in front of the keyboard.
Ergo 4000 A fine keyboard if you use a natural mouse and the natural mouse is directly in front of you. It's actually more comfortable than it sounds.
I use one at work, with an evoluent vertical mouse, and it solved some chronic wrist pains I was having.
Evoluent A keyboard with the numpad on the left, so it's good with a standard mouse.
diNovo Edge No numpad, so it's good with a standard mouse. It's wireless, small, works well with my xbox 360. Easy to swap between the 2.
There's no reason to stagnate keyboard technology.

Personally? I am going to hang on to my G15 as long as possible.
Version 1 and I love it, the perfect sound of the keys, the blue glow that goes with my monitor on/off button and my PC's glow, and the macros are useful to no end. Also, I would kill myself without the LCD and media screen. The keys are nice and softish but still have a satisfying thud every time you hit them.
If Logitech ever supercedes the G15 and the G7 [G9 isn't very comfortable IMHO, will wait and see what they do next] then I will pick up that generation, but I wouldn't dream of dropping my current G15/7 combo for anything less
