1. Say that I am only going to use a research agent to passively aquire research points, is there any point to leveling the required research skills beyond level 1? I read that it matters if you intend to do missions for the research agent but my current plan doesnt see that happening so I want to know if leveling the skill past level 1 affects the dayly aculimation of RP.
2. Even if the agent has multiple research options you can only research one option at a time, so do you need to research all of the research skills of that particular agent or just the one option your interested in? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
Players who post are like stars, there are bright ones and those who are dim.

1. Your science skill level affects the RP/day.
2. Just the one you are interested in.

3. Is there a way to calculate how many RP's you will get per day passively before going threw the revelant training? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

1. As stated, more RP per day => more datacores.
2. You only need the one skill for your area of research, but it can be worth training the others so that you can adapt to market conditions and/or your invention requirements. i.e. today might be gallentean Starship engineering in demand, tomorrow it might be electron physics. Having options never hurts.
3. Yes there's a formula somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now. Try a google search. It's been posted here a number of times. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Okay final question (I think), what does Hypernet Science do? One of the agents im interested in has it listed but when I check there doesnt seem to be a datacore assossiated with it. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

if it hasn't changed, it's:
RpPerDay = ((AgentSkill + YourSkill)^2 * (1 + (EffectiveQuality / 100))) * AreaBonus
* RpPerDay: How many research points you get in 24 hours. * AgentSkill: The agents level (Range from 0 to 4, not sure if there are level 5 research agents) * YourSkill: The level you have the required science skill trained to for this agent/field (ex. Graviton Physics) * EffectiveQuality: The quality of the agent (Range from -20 to 20). Note: this is after your skills are added, so it is possible to get above 20. * AreaBonus: Depends on the research field. Most fields have a modifier of 1, weapon related research is 2, and ship research is 3.
LetĘs look at an example:
* AgentLevel = 3 * YourSkill = 4 * EffectiveQuality = 5 * AreaBonus = 1
RpPerDay = ( ( AgentLevel + YourSkill )^2 * ( 1 + ( EffectiveQuality / 100 ) ) ) * AreaBonus = (( 3 + 4 )^2 * ( 1 + ( 5 / 100 ) ) ) * 1 = ( 7^2 * ( 1 + 0.05 ) ) * 1 = ( 49 * 1.05 ) * 1 RpPerDay = 51.45

I don't think it does anything - it's description includes hacking, codebreakers and parasites. It might be for future expansion.
It doesn't appear to open any new skills or enable any items. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Okay, so my one question to all of that is is that the formula for passive RP, doing a mission for the RP agent, or does it not matter in the first place? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
Players who post are like stars, there are bright ones and those who are dim.

Doing a mission for the agent simply doubles the RP for that day. I usually leave them alone, but if I feel like it, I might run a mission on datacore collection day, just to get an extra datacore or two.

exactly - i have 3 chars that run 5 agents each - i work from home a lot so if i'm stuck on a boring conference call i'll zip them all to their respective agents, run the mission he offers when i get there and then move on. it's a nice little payday :)
