I've heard rumors that CCP was considering at some point of time to implement one killboard linked directly to the game. I think that feature should be put back on the agenda, right after the lag issue off course. Just imagine, no more 5 different sites, no more missing killmails. No more, what's the kb link again questions. Maybe even some advanced reporting features. Sign, one can only wish for.

Only if all kill and loss mails were added to it without any action being taken by the players themselves. Anything other than a definitive collection of ALL kill and loss mails from time period X and onwards isn't worth CCP's time and effort to do, since there are already other large KB systems out there that utilize voluntary participation and mail posting.

Exactly what I qwas going to say. A kill mail sent to all pilots on the mail and one sent straight to the KB database or handler.

CCP has openly stated, that they intend to allow people to keep their kill mails private if they want.
If you want a unified killboard, all you need to do is convince everyone to give away their full API key.
Not likely to happen: so will just need to live with that fact.

So....you want them to "fix" lag...an issue that isn't really under their control (unless they have some sort of super server I'm not aware of)?
And then you want them to fully integrate a universal killboard into the game and have all that information not lag the game any more than it currently does....
Here's my suggestion for each issue:
Get a better computer/internet/turn off preiumgraphics/turn down your graphics/turn off graphic options like trails and explosions. That will fix your lag as long as you have a good connection (unless you're in huge nullsec fights, in which case, you can't reasonably expect to have lag free battles with 100 ships involved).
Learn to find/not lose your kms and post them yourself. It takes 7 seconds. If it was universal, it would be lagged to hell and I guarantee that it would miss more kms than you're complaining about now.
Bigger/universal is not always better and lag cannot just magically be "fixed."
Also, unless you're a coder who can do any of this, shut up and stop whining about bad code on certain kbs (I don't even know who gallente.net is, but I seriously doubt you can do a better job or you would just do it instead of *****ing).

Just give the player an "Opt In" check box in your settings... box checked your killmail gets posted.. unchecked it's private.

Sounds more like an excuse not to do it than an actual reason. I'm sure they have ways to monitor ship losses without disclosing private information. There are ways of doing it properly and there ways of finding every possible excuse not to. The guy who posted " keep track of your KMs", I just LOLed at your entire post.

You're a troll. You have to be. No one is this stupid.
Also, am I the only one who thinks this would be a huge intelligence issue? All of a sudden, every kill is public and your recon of a potential enemy is as easy as searching their name on the universal kb. Dumb.

Edited by: Exlegion on 19/09/2008 17:54:56 I for one, like to keep my fittings private to minimize vulnerabilities. If someone wants to know what I fly and how I fly they should put some work into it.
Personally, I think it's fine the way it is now. But then again, I'm not a KB fan anyway.

The log servers! They do nothing!
It'd be cool to see a central KB that uses API info.

Killmails don't even generate modules half the time due to the lag. What makes you think CCP is capable of even making something like this that works?

part of eve is disinformation. if you want to lie about killmails, it should be possible Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Saint |

This is a really good idea. Some corps and players like to keep accurate figures.

I bet if they made this a reality, and removed killmails, the game would actually be less laggy as a result.

Also this would only add to the usual "my epeen is bigger than yours" behaviour so where is the need for something like that? Crap idea, it moves away from the old eve feeling...

I've heard there will be a 3D shooter mode on stations when ambulation comes. With killboard, lots of different weapons and naked chicks. And an area explicitly designed to show off with the head of your enemy.

Complete agree... far to much 'perfect information' in Eve and Killmail are a prime example of it.
Eve like war should be dark and ugly, only the intel you gather by actual engagements and effort..
