Originally by: Elise Randolph Fighting with the Amarr Militia for quite some time now, I can honestly say that UK and Electus Matari have had no substantial impact on the war efforts in my time. I've seen some EM pilots, but they generally seem to be like children who have imbibed way too much liquor, not soldiers in any sense of the word. From my experience - which I'd like to point out once again is significant but not omniscient - they have foolishly engaged against impossible odds. It's not bravery, it's mere stupidity.
But at the very least, you can say they do support the militia.
That is far more than one can say about the CVA, who have proven time and time again to not care a single bit about the Amarr Militia. When they rear their heads, they refuse to work in tandem with the militia corps. Not only that, but they actually fire on the most successful Militia corp: Slacker Industries. When they do manage to take time out of their busy schedules and travel an exhausting four jumps from their space (which has happened so often that I can actually count on one hand), they only succeed in shooting a few stragglers and then sitting at a safe spot for fifteen minutes. Of course, while they are out and about, anyone from the most successful Amarrian militia corp has to go elsewhere. Fine for us, but it certainly detracts from the cause. Definitely more harm than good, really.
And I don't say this in hopes that CVA will have a change of heart. No, pleanty of people dislike Slacker Industries for one reason or another. But for an entity who claims to support the Amarr cause to be so two-faced, so utterly counter productive, I just feel the need to show off their hypocrisy.
CVA does help some of the Amarr Militiamen, but not all. Truth is, they would help those militiamen even if they were not in the militia. CVA is not here to help the Amarr; CVA is here to help CVA. If they can help the Amarr while doing it, well that's just gravy.
Congratulate the real heroes of the war, not some useless glory hunters too caught up in semantics to do anything worth a damn. If you cared enough you'd follow the example of PIE: leave your alliance and actually do something worthwhile. If you are happier sitting in your armchairs and complaining the CONCORD isn't letting you do what you want, then so be it - but don't expect anyone to buy it.
On the contrary, the CVA has offered support to multiple corporations in the Amarrian militia - not only on the battlefield but in other ways as well. I suspect that sniping at them on public forums is not the best way to receive such an offer.
On a more personal note, I do not appreciate comments which appear designed to drive a wedge between PIE and the CVA.

Edited by: Togakure on 23/09/2008 09:04:06 Many have problems with this article because it is basically a rehashing of a previous article about alliance involvement in factional warfare. The fact that no new news from the front line has been reported is disappointing. What the reporter has failed to do is capture the almost five months of stories from the front line. Why is there no news about the power players of factional warfare? What about intra-militia fighting? Just because UK and EM are louder doesn't mean other entities aren't equally as interesting. The sheer fact that 0utbreak and Heretic Militia wasn't even mentioned in every story about Minmatar militia is laughable. After 0utbreak left, Heretic Militia has been the backbone of that militia and the only corp that has offered any resistance to the Amarr militia. Every props to them and 0utbreak to making my involvement interesting.
Also, I see a lot of talk about alliances supporting the militia behind the scenes but never any details. How about detailing what exactly these alliances have done to support the militia so I too can give them props.

Some of us would rather sit behind the scenes helping rather than seek hollow fame and glory. You will see very little chest beating from CVA, we know what we are doing to help, our allies know what we are doing and thats good enough for me.

Indeed. You would think there would be more of these pilot view-point reports from battles and so forth that were advertised by news agencies at the beginning of the war, by now.
Quote: Just because UK and EM are louder doesn't mean other entities aren't equally as interesting.
Again, we spoke to the reporter only after he had expressed interest in alliances in the war - he seems to have an interest in this specifically, and we could not see that as a bad thing, as we felt the publicity would be a help in the red tape issue. This is not us being "loud" - this is the reporter choosing what he reports.
Quote: How about detailing what exactly these alliances have done to support the militia so I too can give them props.
Detailed operational information on EM active support programs is available to the relevant militia (ask your FCs to point you towards it). Current plans for extending that support are available on a need-to-know basis.
The enemy, unsurprisingly, does not need to know.

No the simple fact is we help the Amarr empire and all corps who fight for it where we can and more than most know including yourself it seems. We do not tolerate corps and individuals who use their affiliation with the Empire as an excuse for piracy.
I fear that the CVA are taken exception to some of my remarks. I didn't attempt to "drive a steak between the Amarr and the CVA" or anything of the sort, I just wanted to point out what was actually going on.
Maybe I'm wrong; maybe you help out the Amarr Militia corps more than you would help out other neutral parties and I'm just so anti-social that I haven't spoken to anyone whom you've helped. It's a possibility. Maybe the terms of your agreement is to not talk about it - again a possibility that I'm not writing off.
Or maybe my eye is just so untrained and out of the loop that you are helping and I just don't see it - I'm constantly reminded that I'm not the brightest bulb in the package. But when one of the more active opposing FC's has this to say

it sort of gives credence to my thoughts, doesn't it?
I'd like to emphasize this again since people seem to have missed it: this isn't a negative thing - the CVA have no obligation to the Amarr militia; they have an empire all their own to maintain and protect. Who can blame them for focusing on that? But when these topics come up, people who aren't "in the loop" always talk about how the longstanding alliances are causing tangible results in the War. That, again, is what I'm trying to show here.

Perceptions. Amazing things.
There is a perception by some that CVA has done little to help the cause of slavery, oppresion, and the Amarrian way. While I don't know what negotiations have been made behind the scenes between CVA and the disparate groups in the 'Crusade', I can assure you that CVA has done more to eliminate freedom and inflict misery than the entire membership of the Crusade could dream of.
There is a perception that the Matari alliances -- for example, Electus Matari and Ushra'Khan -- have done less than they could to assist the cause. I'll let Electus Matari speak for theselves; for my part, I'm pleased to have contributed to the extent that I have; my only regret is that I've been prevented from doing more by the policies of CONCORD and the Sanmatar. I look forward to the day that those policies change so that I can contribute more ... in the meantime, Ushra'Khan intends to continue participating through our militia detachments.
As to the perceptions regarding who is claiming credit or should recieve credit: this is valueless argument. We are Matari, we should all work together in our effort to be there for our people. Who rescued how many brethren from slavery matters less than how many brethren we have collectively rescued. Let's be more concerned with sending the slavers to premature meetings with their vile 'god' than with who does the sending.
Fly free, brothers.

I have some pretty grandiose dreams in that department. Though I resent it being called bringing misery. The correct statement of what the CVA have done is "Bring peace and justice and the light of God to those who would harm God's people"

I suppose that to the extent that electricity and light are both subsets of 'electromagnetic radiation', shock rods could be considered -- by someone as willing to bend perceptions of reality as a follower of that hellspawn the Amarrians call a "god" -- as 'bringing the light of "god"' to someone. Similarly, setting as a goal the conquest by blood and fire of the entirety of the universe could be considered 'bringing peace'.
Other more rational thinkers tend to disagree.

It amuses me greatly when I see claims of CVA "helping" the cause of the Amarr militia.
I guess it must have been well inside the boundaries of this wholesome good will CVA bear on the militia that a patrol of 3 of their battleships was locking and trying to engage the recon ship piloted by me in Auga, after I had just finished off a minmatar destroyer right before their eyes.
Is attacking militia members the way they help the Amarr cause? Or is it they are not concerned with an Amarr cause at all, and are only trying to further their private interests - just as any 0.0 alliance really - directing their weapons at whim, sacrificing any greater faction interest to their desire at the moment?

Edited by: Shad0wsFury on 27/09/2008 17:45:07 To be honest, I've only been active for two months after a rather long break. In that time, I have not seen CVA ONCE.
Maybe they're helping in some other way than fighting, but what that way is, I don't know.
Bottom line is that this article is INSULTING to those of us corporations and alliances that heavily participate in Faction Warfare and are having the due credit re-routed to alliances that participate in NAME ONLY, and do nothing to further the cause of their militia or faction.
Is this a publicity stunt? Is it a cry for attention? I don't know, but it would be nice to see some of the REAL players in Faction Warfare covered. How about talking about MirrorGod or Wraithstorm or Heretics or Slackers or Armada? Or maybe even Elise Randolph, the person with the most kills all time in Faction Warfare? There are so many good corps and alliances and people that can be discussed in the news that are ACTUALLY doing something.
I invite you to look at this page: http://fwstats.eve-ic.net/
Slacker Industries with more kills than the 24th Imperial Crusade. A Slacker top of kills for all time in FW. Slacker Industries and their pilots are within the top 10 of quite a few of those categories, and that's just us. Stats don't tell the whole story though, and there have been quite a few epic battles and rivalries, and I'm sure FAR more to arise.
If you're going to take the time to talk about Faction Warfare in the "news" it would be prudent to look at what's REALLY going on, and cover the people that are actually participating, instead of big alliances that do nothing and just wan their name in the news for some reason.

Let me begin by stating that what I'm about to say represents my personal views only. I speak for myself, not in any official capacity for my corporation or alliance.
At the risk of drawing the ire of my CEO or Diplomat, I'll go ahead anyway.
Pilot Maynard, please shut the hell up, you know not of which you speak. If you're so upset at the news article in question then direct your outrage towards the ISD and not take cheap and totally unwarranted shots at EM or UK personnel. Firstly, the rules for war participation were drawn up and are enforced by Concord. Direct your complaints to that body. If alliances were able to directly participate in the war I know that MANY more would do so quite willingly.
Secondly, as one inside an alliance and not merely sitting outside making uninformed remarks, there are many deeds (which I won't detail here due to operational security concerns) both large and small that are being done every day to further the cause of the Republic--not just to glorify the militia--against the Amarr. Logistical support, intel sharing, materiel support, financial support, etc. That you don't see this personally is immaterial; things are being done behind the scenes which you know nothing of yet which directly support the cause of our people nonetheless.
Thirdly, just from the ranks of my own corp we have "lost" several experienced and quite valuable pilots who are fighting directly in support of the militia. One, Neu Bastion, a personal friend and a damned good FC (who I learned much from) now fights with the 17th. In my mind that constitutes direct support, not simply lip service.
Lastly, on a personal note: Who the hell are you to question the likes of Elsebeth, Rocius, Arkady or anyone else? Who are you other than a GalNet malcontent? I know these people personally and have flown with them every day. These patriots have done more to further the cause of our people than an upstart like you can possibly begin to grasp. These individuals don't need me to defend them, their accomplishments over the years speak for themselves. But it honestly ****es me off that a wet behind the ears (and I don't mean from pod ectoplasm either) pup like you would have the gall to call anyone out, least of all my corpmates.
It's great that you're passionate about the militia, but making snarky comments directed towards the people you want help from won't get you very far. Might get a missile lobbed your way from a hothead like me if I get half a chance though. Hopefully these comments will give you something to ponder before your next counterproductive posting, pilot. Do with them as you will...

Is this your idea of support for the militia? Seems quite...counter-productive. While I may disagree with the way that Miss Maynard went about this, her intentions were well. She is speaking out loudly to awaken the warriors in the Matari. These feelings of pride and anger should be focused, not on eachother, but on the Amarr. Many have taken the stance that we (the TLF) can fight this war on our own and need not give any additional support.
This is not the case. The Amarrian wallets are backed by massive treasuries that have no end. If you expect us to survive the onslaught that will occur after the Sarum's regain power, it will require all the help we can get. I'm sure Megan is well aware of the ties between the 17th and EM, and while her remarks may have been crude, they had a purpose.
And it wasn't to drive a stake between our organizations.
