So I recently started skilling into battleship class vessels. One ship type I've been very interested in is the Marauder.
Sadly, the EVE community seems to have accepted the fact that they've become obsolete with the advent of the
Noctis and the slightly superior DPS provided by Faction battleships.
So I've been wondering whether any WH alliances or corporations have ever used Marauders to any effect in WHs,
specifically the Vargur and the Kronos. Vargur has a tracking bonus over a Mach, and can tractor/salvage
while running a site. Pretty much the same DPS before drones as well.
On a side note, the same applies for incursions. If a Vargur has better tracking than a Mach, with almost the same DPS,
wouldn't it make more sense to use one in Vanguards, which are mostly cruiser and lower size targets?
What do y'all think?

in general, marauders suck.
paladin is the only one i'd say works well in WHs.
golem also works well in high class WH fleets if you fit it right.
ive never seen a kronos or vargur fit that is good for anything at all in WHs or out. |

Before switching to Tengu I had a Golem in C5 WH and I was doing fine. It's signature radius may cause some troubles on the capital spawns but if you have a fleet which can hold you then you'll be fine. Of course forget about 1k Dps with torpedoes, cruise missiles are the only wise choice for sleepers. I think I have my fit saved somewhere if you need one.
Anyway, T3 is still the best for wh anomalies. |

they don't use much ammo (excluding the paladin of course, screw lasers)
that's about the only thing they got going for them these days |

I have dreams of bringing a gank Kronos into wormhole fights where its web bonus and zomg DPS would be worthwhile.
Then I remember it can be jammed by a toy radio and I grumble and go back to training something worthwhile.

You have not seen too much , have you ? Vargur is very good at running high sec lvl 4
If you dont have 2 accounts , the Vargur does kill npc extremely fast and allow you to salvage the valuable wrecks if you want..
Hell, even if you dont salvage, its an extremely good mission ship
Now back to the OP, marauders are not used in WH that much maybe because they cost as much as a T3 while being much slower in general and slower to align in particular. The marauder salvage bonus is mostly irrelevant since generally , people run sites in a gang , so you have one alt or one char dedicated to salvaging.
It could be usefull in a C2 by example, but why would you want to risk 1 billion ship when a drake gets the job done , even if its a bit slower ?
dont forget that in WH anyhing goes on, specially in terms of pvp. |

vargur can be used in pairs w/ local tank and cap transfer to be able to run any C4 site, and is probably the best ship for that if you only have 2. On the other hand, once you get to 3 ships there are better setups, but that is a different matter. You can do the same with the golem but having to use cruise missiles makes it kinda meh. Neither the paladin nor the kronos can do that though...

Summary: If you like how the t1 version of the ship plays, and you enjoy PvE, go for it, it's fine. |

There are much better choices then a maruder. Any person seeing one on a descan in a WH will want to blow it up since they are very easy to jam. |

Yep, confirming that when I see normal BS's on d-scan in a wormhole I dont want to blow them up.

A while back I was pondering the same question and in fact came to a conclusion.
Marauders can be used with a very specific fit for a specific purpose in wormholes.
2 - 3 Chars clearing c3 and c4 sites very fast. With a little adjustment to the fit and a fleet booster even the easy c5 sites.
This is what I came up with:

I kid I kid but ya a 1 bill ship with an aline time that bad is almost asking for it, oh wait it has a senser str of 10 that is asking for it.

Let's just be clear: they are going to kill your Drake, your Domi, your Sin, or even your Kronos if they find it in a plex. As far as PVP risks while PVPing, they are all exactly the same.
