I am not normally one to complain but it seems to me that EVE has been suffering serious lag issues since the hardware upgrade.
This was previously brought to the Devs attention through a post by Einheriar Ulrich and we were assured that the patch would not take place until the performance issues were resolved.
Well from where I am sitting they don't seem to have been even though I have spent two days since th patch giving it a go. Not only is the game seriously laggy but these forums (which are linked to the game and often a good indicator of ngame performance) have also been running poorly the last few days to the point of being annoyingly slow.
CCP please can you let us know what the problem is and what is being done to rectify this situation? This is not meant to be a whine - would just like some sensible response.
(Before anyone starts to flame about it being down to my PC/Connection/General Idiocy I have tried it on several computers in different locations and it still seems laggier than before the hardware upgrade - also had plenty of anecdotal evidence from many other players that things aren't running too smoothly)

No trolling needed. The forums have been very slow for the last few days, and yesterday they seemed to have managed it. But seem a bit laggy today :/

I've just noticed the forums have sped up massively again in the last hour. Bit weird.

The lag spikes we are having seriously impedes our ability to effectively engage in PvP!
What is being done about this?
Tonight we had several engagements ruined and broken up by repeated lag spikes, making a mess out of what was several tense and uptil the lag spikes, well fought duels and skirmishes.
I feel the regret and frustration of those pilots who lost their ships, not due to our skill or tactics, but to the bloody lag! >:(

Just to add to what Gaius says the lag tonight at least in Empire space was atrocious. Particularly in Amarr
I ctd at least 2 times - other PIE pilots ctd 3/4 times and we were in a fleet of less than 10 ships.
We are experienced in Empire fighting having been doing it for over a year and it has NEVER been as unstable and laggy as it has been since the hardware upgrade last week.
In our engagements this evening we killed 1 battleship, 2 cruisers, 2 interceptors and 2 frigates and lost non ourselves so I am not complaining out of a sense of loss - but out of fun spoiled by a poor gaming experience...
Please let us know why the hardware upgrades last week seem to have had a detrimental effect on game performance CCP!

I got a partial kill just staring at a frozen screen... caus I had activated my guns...
Not much fun that :/
Besides, I can't even preach my Amarrian wisdom in local due to the lag. That's next to heretical! :p ----------------------------------------------

Edited by: Vectrex on 19/06/2004 09:36:25 Yeah this is getting really really annoying.
When the upgrades first went live I played on em & it was great & completely lag free (best I've had in Eve so far). However, the day after it'd all gone to pot. They then decided to patch it (even after saying they were going to solve the problems first!?!?!?!) Then a hotfix, ok this seemed to solve a number of problems, but still very laggy. Then hotfix number 2 (the last one I think), which has completely killed EVE for me it seems. I get the following problems:
Lag from time to time (doesn't bother me that much). Undocking 'blackout' (this is pretty damn irritating). But now, crashes after coming out've warp! (This is extremely irritating & makes the game unplayble).
So as it stands I can't do agent missions, mine or rat hunt, since it has a 1/3 chance of crashing out every jump (with a server disconnection). So hmm I guess until Tuesday (which as its going, may make things even worse), I'll be left in the only lag free/crash free place in EVE. My hangar & not leaving it, hmmm what fun!
Edit: Oh great it crashes with a virtual call, in the hangar

This might not be what you want to hear, but here goes;
The 32 new nodes were disconnected when the patch went live. this to ensure that the TQ and Entropy server structure was similar enough to debugmost of it. I assume they will be brought online again when the patch is stable enough to do so.
So, if you think this patch is a mess, imagine what would have happened with the 32 extra nodes to screw things up

Ahh appear to have found the problem, my bad, turns out its my brother using emule which for some reason killed eve. I've heard the undocking 'blackout' still occurs though.
Nice to be playing EVE again, pity downtimes shortly

Amarr in particular is very laggy - but maybe thats because there are 30+ NPC haulers outside each station

Me and 2 corpmates got the freeze thing too, just after killing an enemy raven, I'm glad it was afterwards and not in the middle of the fight (when his friends came to help), that might not have been too good.
All 3 got a screen freeze for 5 seconds, all three said "Wtf?" "what was that" etc in gang chat at the same time. A few minutes later, we all freeze and have to restart our clients, not to mention this: [23:13:55] <Sassinak> we have like 12 of us [23:13:57] <Sassinak> all flashing like mofos [23:14:09] <Elrathias> :S :/ [23:14:09] <Sassinak> and ALL our clients now froze

Sounds like a party!
But really fix this lag/memoryleak/freeze thing asap, its just impossible to play on a normal level now. I am reduced to doing cargo mission, and even then I ctd every 15 minutes.

Kehour in particular was very bad last night. I had to relog due to Eve freezing a total of four times during a fight there - and two of those were when I was in the safe spot you warp to when you log out.
All in all, not a pleasant experience

That still doesn't explain the outright lie when CCP said they wouldn't bring the patch until server performance was stable.
Now you're probably gonna rebuttal this with "well if we waited with the patch deployment longer, you'd be complaining how we lied about the patch release"
No. Laggy and buggy is worse then just laggy. Patch has issues and on top of that, now has laggyness as well. CCP should have done what they said they would, but I guess that's getting to be too much to hope for after all this time. ------------------------------------------- If you kill them, they will die!
