Titan Countermeasures
1.Increase activation timer from 15 seconds to 60 seconds. 2.Display on screen a warming message with voice saying "warning! A doomsday device has been activiated" repeats twice. 3.Create a timer screen down by the autopilot, cargo hold area as a circle thats appears with a countdown timer in the middle. 1 & 2 would allow players to "get out of the way". 3.Create a new ship. Massive hitpoints and resistances with one high slot for a Titan tackle mod with no other slots. Create a mod just for this ship. This would not replace the heavy dictor as they have many slots are are multipurpose. Allow them to still be able to tackle a titan. 4.Create a Titan buy back option. Set a fair price for CCP to buy back Titans incase the pilots complain about the changes. This will allow the pilot to buy a MOM, or other captial.

#1, #3-#5 are horrible ideas.
#2 may not be a horrible idea; it would give some visual notification of a DD activating without effects being on so it could help with lag somewhat. But I would hardly call it any sort of countermeasure.

Titan Fix
The problem with titans is that they kill every thing in seconds after it take you hours to get that battle to start in the 1st place making them no fun for both sides.
So change the Dooms day device in to a super Siege Module The siege mod would give the guns extra fire power but unlike a dread much BETTER tracking so that they can kill BS and BC easy also gives the titan super tanking power so it can stand up to 100 dreads for a bit, and let it be remote tanked by friendly carriers.
This way you would get longer battles and a titan is still very good at killing fleets and not so all or nothing as it is now

That is a bloody AWFUL idea. Give Titans an upkeep-cost. Not something that can be mined, but something you gotta buy from NPC-markets. A pure isk-sink in other words.
And make it ****ing HIGH! So people will think twice before building a fleet of Titans instead of using the one they have more efficiently.

Maybe there can be an option to "powerdown" a titan where it cannot be locked or boarded and does not require n upkeep cost. But to power it up again you need 48 hours? --

As one of the few mechanics fighting blob size, the DD itself shouldn't get nerfed imo.
It would be nice if titans were less about blow your wad and hide though. A module allowing a capital to tackle a super cap might be a good idea.

Per the ISK Sink idea and it's detractors:
Let's face it - if you make the upkeep HIGH enough it WILL damage an alliance's economy. Sure, 50 million isk per day is laughable, mined by a single person in the space of an hour. But if you make that cost something absolutely STAGGERING say a billion isk a day then you have an impact.
The downside is this cripples the ability of a smaller alliance to own one in the first place and makes it so that ONLY the largest, best resourced alliances can even think about keeping their titans intact.
If the goal is remove the titan from the game as a "common" 0.0 warfare element, raising the associated costs tremendously would be a place to start. There is no reason a doomsday device firing should be anything but exhorbinantly expensive when you consider just how much damage a well placed DD can cause.
But, in all reality I think there are lots of ways to "fix" the percieved problem with the Titan. Afterall, the problem isn't the titan - it's just a delivery mechanism for a Doomsday Device. The problem is, as such the doomsday device itself. There are a dozen or more suggestions on fixing this little problem, some of the solutions are reasonable, some are just stupid. Most of them fundamentally change the effect a Titan can have on a battlefield.

Thats a good idea but it should also work like a stacking nerf for the alliance/corp were each new titan they get pushes up the cost of running them, just like haveing 10 wars going at once the more you have the more each new one will cost. This way smaller allances dont get totaly locked out of geting super caps just cos 10bn/week is nothing to bob or aaa

Edited by: Highwind Cid on 24/09/2008 15:20:30 I think I have a decent idea. How about a module that doesn't allow the activation of the DDD? It can have a wide area of effect say up to 100km from the ships hull. Of course its grid usage may need some adjustment or possibly maybe only special ships can equip it? I've never seen a titan in action but I hear its in and out. This will make it stick around or just plain leave without using its DDD.
*edit* This and maybe with a short 2 minute warning of a 'DD activation in t-minus 2 minutes' This will raise the stakes for the titan team and the people to bring a counter measure in.
