1. Disperse all agents evenly across space
2. make missions like the LP store. Instead of waiting for offers and decline them after 4 hours, you get a list of missions to select (perhaps this list starts off small if you have a low standing and gets larger and better as you get higher standings)
people could be content with working for one agent away from the hubs because they get to do what ever mission they want. They also dont have to maintain connections with a bunch of agents to cycle every 4 hours. This means less people per agent and less people in missioning hubs.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 23/09/2008 18:35:12 Being able to select which missions you do from a list favors people with the skills and ship to relentlessly grind the highest-paying, most rewarding missions. I mean, that's fine that those people run the best missions if they have the best setups and skills, and I have no problem with the further devaluation of faction ships and modules thanks to a faster rate of LP acquisition, but people should still have to cycle through a whole mission index. The risk/reward is already screwed up for missions, and I think that the ability to select the optimal mission for your particular skill set would just inflate that issue further.
I'm all for the dispersal of agents though. Mission hubs don't seem to serve any obvious purpose apart from also being trade hubs. Dispersing agents might even cause an economic revitalization in some regions, and allow smaller manufacturers to turn a profit since they could focus their efforts on one system or constellation that just got a couple of decent agents thanks to the dispersal. Well, it might be possible for that to happen at any rate.

Then you could just remove 95% of ALL missions because people would just run the few most profitable ones. You could also just give everyone a fixed amount of LP and ISK per day depending on their standings. Same effect really.
Mission running really doesn't need to be easier. Bad idea there.
I'd love to see agents change their quality, offered missions, heck, locations even from time to time. Anyway, i'd rather see the amount of LP and ISK missions create each day decreased. ----------------------------- Pew pew!

I think CCP needs to stop using lag as a balance mechanism. If the payouts on level 4's are too high, lower them. Making the lag be a disincentive from using high quality agents is worse for everybody and doesn't make any sense from a gameplay perspective.
I say make high quality agents more abundant and if the payouts are wrong then by all means reduce them.
Putting in some queue that you can only run X missions per 4 hours doesn't really benefit anyone either. Just add more high quality agents outside of the main mission hubs.

Edited by: Kerfira on 23/09/2008 18:54:10 Only some simple changes are needed.
Mission rewards dependency on agent quality and system security level is removed. Instead, a simple multiplier of the basic reward (LP/money) is used: High-sec: 1x Low-sec: 2x 0.0: 3x
The effect of quality and sec.level was supposed to create a progression ladder of agents, but it doesn't work as everyone can be at the top quality level in a couple of weeks. It is thus far better to simply remove them so all agents of a certain level gives the same rewards within the same security zone.
Problem solved! Mission hubs are now no longer attractive.

"I'm sorry but the Caldari State and Homeland Securities Corporation for this station have already exhausted our 200 mission allotment. Please check back at 20:00 hours when a new allotment of 200 missions will be available for the next 24 hour period.
If you wish to continue missioning, please see one of the other 2000 agents available to the Caldari State. May God bless our Ravens!"

UPDATE MISSIONING
With our new mission reorganization system, battleship rats of the opposing faction and therefore missions are now limited by sec status of the system.
Currently there is an unlimited supply of battleship rats and this is both illogical and provides for poor gameplay. Why are 100000 gurista bs per day available in a .6 system?
The new, dynamic system has the following algorhythm:
1.0 1000 bs rats total per diem .9 1250 bs rats total per diem .8 1500 bs rats total per diem .7 1750 bs rats total per diem .6 2000 bs rats total per diem .5 2250 bs rats total per diem
When the total allotment of bs rats per diem per faction is exhausted, agents will no longer offer missions for that SYSTEM only.
Remember you are completely and totally allowed to work for any corporation and also any agent in that region.
We hope that this enhances your gameplay, and please keep all replies to the sticky page on Game Expanison Midas.
Thank you!

Its not the lvl 4s that need spreading out, its the player base. There are plenty of lvl 4 agents in high sec, in nearly deserted systems.

I approve of the thread title but not of the ideas of the OP.
Mission and trade hubs are the perfect solution to lag. Contain the lag in Jita, Motsu and <insert your favourite mission/trade hub here> ktnx.

Or,
CCP simply puts the popular mission hubs on their own nodes (like Jita) until they can fix their antiquated net and server code. CCP can certainly afford to do this, it would cost less than running a couple of their TV ads they are presently showing on Sci-Fi and Cartoon network.
This way the crowded mission systems would also not be penalizing the systems they used to share nodes with.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Professional mission runners are mindless muppets who could care less about lag. If you spread out all the agents then the rest of Caldari space would lag out and **** off the players who actually like to play Eve the game instead of Eve the isk faucet. Hence all the top quality agents are grouped together to let the rest of Eve play laggish free in Caldari space. Awesome game design choice by CCP I must say.

Best solution of all....DON'T F*CKING TO THERE! There are better agents than ones located is "Mission Hubs" and even places that never send you to low sec. Mission hubs are only great for macro mission runners. If you have half a brain you go there once deal with 20 minute module activation and GTFO ASAP after.

too much work to code,
too much work on the servers (imagine it having to update the list when 2982 mission being runned simultanously...)
not enough incentive to do it...
less headache just to go around/move to R&D corps (cause no body grinds R&D corps for missions! XD)

is there any proof that mission runners are the cause of lag, cause in 0.0, its fine until 10+ caps arrive and drop their drones. Then its worse than Jita.
lag issue = way more complex than the Monday morning system administrators can comprehend Man goes to the doc, with a strawberry growing out of his head. Doc says "I'll give you some cream to put on it." |

In the vast majority of cases its not the mission runners themselves who cause the lag. Its the literally tens of thousands of rats, loot drops and destroyable structures the node has to keep up with in each and every mission system.

Who needs those hubs, my home system has 5 of 4q20 agents and local rarely goes over 20. (But it's a lowsec and we'll probly kill you if you come there ) _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |
