I told you!! The higgs boson will NEVER let the LHC collide anything! Delays and events and strange happenings will just continue to push back the first real experiment dates further and further. There will always be a seemingly normal and logical reason, but the years will churn on and it will never ever collide.
This is proof of th.. actually wait no... i need to word this carefuly.... It is evidence of the plausibility of the existance of god.
Because it shows that when dealing with crazy stuff like this (yo), logical explainable events, are in fact the result of intentional direct manipulation of reality. In this case the higgs boson is going back in time and causing the universe to prevent the LHC from discovering the higgs boson.
Don't you all see? Every day events, simple physics. THOSE are the hand of god(s/ess/desu)! THEY are all miracles! Every one of them! You assume they happen 'naturally', but nature is just another word for the will of god!!!!

Unaccessable link is unaccessable. Anyway, same story here I guess...
You say act of god, I say nearly unavoidable, completely expectable delays. It's a one-of-a-kind, HUGE and very delicate machine. Even the slightest problem anywhere on 27km of sensitive machinery could cause experiments to fail for any number of reasons. And when they tried to make it as cheap as possible (yes, they DID)... what's that saying about the lowest bidder quality ? If they will actually start running the DESIRED experiments in 2 years from now, now THAT would be "an act of god"

Arguably you could reason that things going wrong is simply god's way of letting them know something is wrong.

I fail to see how this is significant. This longer shutdown has nothing directly to do with the mechanical failure of the collider... they simply don't operate in the winter, and it's a two month process to fix the collider... meaning that when they shut down in November, they'll have likely just finished repairs.
It's also rather amusing that the only people who seem to think the LHC will end the world have less knowledge of particle physics than my cat. These sorts of people are better of talking about how flipping burgers incorrectly will end the world. They will have a higher chance of being correct in their assumptions.

Relax, guys. One of the team is probably completing the side quest right now. Once the big rusty valves all over the facility have been turned, the leak will be contained, they can reinsert the sample and we can get back to the headcrabs.

It doesn't matter WHY its delayed, only that it IS delayed. They have been taking breaks in the winter all this time, simply because they were meant to take THIS break. Its like the glasses of water that are sitting around the house in that crappy alien movie with mel gibson and the little girl.

I don't think the LHC will end the world, because i don't think it will ever actually collide anything!

The Higgs boson is real! It came to me in a vision, and told me that my purpose was to spread Its holy word on the internet, so that the multitudes could receive mass through the realization of Its love.

Honestly, considering the complexity of the machine, the sheer volume of problems that can occur, and the fact that as Akita said, it's almost one of a kind, i'm surprised there are so few problems. IMO, there are a lot of very smart people over there working on this very complex project, and if we just give it time, you'll see results.
Or of course it could be little omniscient higgs-boson gremlins going back in time to ruin the LHC's day.

Everybody has it wrong about the LHC.
It was ACTUALLY build to discover the question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. Since we already know the answer we need to know the question, and since neither can exist at the same time, the universe would collapse and be replaced with something even more bizzare.
Since we don't want that happening again, the higgs boson is not allowing it to do so.
Did I mention that the LHC was commissioned by mice?
