the reason i'm asking this is because when it comes to manual manoeuvring it is quite difficult(for me anyway)to both double click in space to set direction and rotate camera manually by click-and-drag

I do not believe that there is. It would be a good idea for that to happen like that though.

Erm......not really, everyone has their own way of doing their camera angles for theirs ship so tbh just try until you find a way to suit you tbh.

You get used to it, and it IS advantaageous in certain situations...
... such as when the pretty space nebula graphics make it hard to see at a glance what modules you have active, you can swivel the POV around until you can see them (pet gripe).
Sometimes it's best NOT to let the pretty ship fireworks distract you from what's going on.

Try "Widescreen" mode (even on a non-widescreen monitor). Gives you black bars at the top and bottom where the modules and the targeted ship icons go.
As for the camera... I think you'll get used to it given a little practice.

If that's so, you've just saved my eyesight a bit - that's one of the most annoying things in-game to me (that, and not being able to set the transparency level for pinned windows.
Thanks for the hint!
