War was the internal codename for the EVE Online: Empyrean Age expansion, which contained Factional Warfare. War 1.1 was therefore the codename for Empyrean Age 1.1 that we released at the beginning of this month.
War 1.2 was the codename for an internal milestone towards our next expansion this winter, but that expansion has the codename Midas.

Could we get a huge "Codename-Official Name-Other Names" list somewhere?
That would be a very interesting read.

In recent history:
- Kali was Revelations
- Kali 2 was Revelations II
- Kali 3 without Factional Warfare but with Trinity 2 (the engine) was Trinity
- Kali 3 with Factional Warfare was War was Empyrean Age
- Midas will be ...
The game is called EVE Online.

Phoenix - Internal Alpha Medusa - Closed Alpha/Beta Gemini - Open Beta & Retail Castor - Winter 2003 Expansion Shiva - Fall 2004 Expansion
Kali was supposed to be the next expansion and it was going to be huge. They decided to release Cold War in Summer 2005, half year after Exodus, because there was no way to kill POS and the economy was going down the drain. They also wanted to lighten the load for Kali.
Red Moon Rising was the hacked down version of Kali released winter 2005 (one year after Exodus).
One year later they realized they still couldn't do Kali in one expansion, so they split into three. It took half a year for part 2. Part 3 got renamed from Revelations 3 to Trinity and was out Winter 2007, but delayed its primary feature. Empyrean Age was out another 5 months later in Spring/Summer 2008 bringing FW under a different codename.
Personally, I'm glad we're done with Kali and they're using a new name. It took 3 years to push it out the door with a lot of features missing
I hope we get the missing parts from Kali (rev1, 2 and trinity) this winter. But they said in some interview that Midas was an expansion for industrialism. I'm hoping that means a focus on environments, because honestly you can't overhaul industry at this point and keep ignoring Mining. New environments is a chance to get the missing graphics and a nerf to local.
lol, hope. :F

Having played a bunch of Warhammer Online I can say there's a couple of ideas in there that CCP could stand to "take inspiration from". The public quest system is simply awesome.
Essentially mini-raids, there's multiple stages which must be completed in order for the quest to progress. You join in with anyone else doing the quest, you all accomplish the same goal, and get rewarded for your contribution to the success of the quest, either through DPS, buffs, heals, etc. Then, the quest resets within a few minutes.
Came in late? Keep at it, as there's a persistence bonus applied to your random final loot roll which gives you an advantage if you're doing it more than once, but it's not enough to guarantee getting the best stuff (or anything at all).
Fun and accessible. Just like EVE! :D
Seriously though, very cool concept. Would be an interesting type of mission, and can be made to be very epic, EVE-style. And just imagine doing that during a war, or in unsecured space, where those who show up might not be there to help you at all. :)

I actually edited in the "and destruction" part to reinforce my point. Originally just hindu god of death...wait are you some kind of editor in real life or something?
"Correctness" in forum posts ends with grammar. Going beyond that is a road to madness.

Nope, it's a cursed king that turns everything he touched into gold and starved to death later in the story.
Incidentally it's also the name of a legendary Amarr Emperor who came up with all the gold plating on Amarr stuff. (I made this up)

No. Mythology was definitly not your best course on school.
Everyone knows Midas. Midas can turn everything in gold by touching it. It's a nice story...

Waitwhut?! WAR is an EVE Codename?! I have to send some mails, some people might not be happy.
We really should not have World Domination meetings right after EVE-Software meetings. It's confusing.
