The full error is as follows: GetCharacterList() issue: A general error has occured, please try again later. I have uninstalled, deleted all cache files and EVEMon directories in every location. I have a desktop and a laptop with EVEMon installed. I have never had any issues until today. It just stopped working on my laptop all of a sudden today. It was workign fine last night when I shut it down and went to bed. Got up this morning and all I get is the throbber blinking, and trying to input the API again doesn't help.
This is when I decided to completely blow away everything having to do with EVEMon on the laptop and reinstall. Once it was installed I proceeded to add my characters and got the above message. I also tried getting a new API for just one of the two accounts. After 5 hours I of course had to use the new API on the desktop because it no longer was able to see the old API info. The new API now causes my desktop to no longer receive data from Eve but the character I didn't mess with is still able to receive data without problems.
So to recap: Desktop now has 1 character working, 1 not working. Laptop can not get any characters added at all and gets the above message.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If this has been answered before please place link for me to find it. I have spent about 6 hours looking for resolution and trying everything I could find to no avail.
Thank you, Galendorf |

Edited by: Miss Fisher on 28/09/2008 11:23:01 Edited by: Miss Fisher on 28/09/2008 11:22:18 Same problem, been thinkin of what could cause it. Reinstalled .net frameworks, java (dont ask why, seemed to have stopped workin when i installed java). Pretty much tried everything and am currently clueless :)
Also, it's not just EVEmon, but apparently my computer (and yours as well) lost ALL abilities to either retrieve or use the API's. Other programs that require APIs dont work either
ALSO, if you go to your API access log, you'll see your IP doesnt really show up anymore. It's like it doesnt try to access it. I dunno

That's a server side error. Nothing you do on your computer will make a difference CCP will need to fix the error.
Basically, the API server is up and running but when it tries to call the data that you requested, based on whatever page you accessed, it spits out a general error because something is wrong on the local servers that it communicates with. Either it's lost access to the servers or can't communicate with the servers. It doesn't seem to be affecting every API page. I can't pull character skill info in Evemon or view the standings page. But, the fuel and assets seem to still be working properly.
The "didn't mess with character" is probably still working as Evemon goes into cached modem which means it will still display the last skill training until the time at which that skill is finished and then won't display anything until API server issue is fixed and it can pull data again. |

Same problem here. I am using two different machines trying to retrieve corp/MemberTracking.xml info, on my development desktop everything is working fine, but on our production server I am repeatedly getting "A general error has occured".
Using php or simple wget to retrieve the info yields the same result on both devices.
Any idea? May be a source IP based load balancing redirecting on 2 different servers, one which is having an issue? |

My only guess is that the problem was with CCP. Today all my avatars on all machines are working properly.
I hope that anyone else that was having the same problem is no longer having this issue.
For those that were looking into the problem, I thank you for your efforts.
