For the days following the patch i've read and reeread all kinds of whining threads about EVE.
"I can't hit cruisers with my big guns"
"This game is full of bugs"
"I'm quiting"
Please stop and think that this game is not all that important, but with an idea i just had it can make a big diference.
My idea is to aid UNICEF with our fee for playing EVE.
I'm not asking CCP to contribute, i'm asking CCP to deliver the means so WE players can contribute.
An extra service called "Aid UNICEF" would be 1 euro. If at least 5000 players contribute its 5000 euros month for a good cause.
CCP could put a UNICEF little tag in each Avatar picture that is corrently contributing.
While you are whining like spoiled kids, some kids don't even have food, water or healthcare.
CCP could you please make this happen?

Well, this is going to come off in the wrong way, but I would have to say "no". The last thing I need is people judging me because my avatar doesn't have the UN symbol on it, even though I pay great amounts to UNICEF already through taxes, personal contributions and (on occasions) volunteer work...
Politics and computer games don't mix

It's NOT about politics, it's about helping others, and for starters i think no one is going to judge you if you not contribute.
Help must be given freely, banner or not, i still think is a good idea.
Perhaps you pay more money in your taxes to help bomb people up that you do for helping them... Selling Raven BPC ME20 3M at Yulai 1st Station |

No, I don't. I'm Swedish, we have a long history of not daring to offend anyone.
Anyhow, EVE is filled with all sorts of people just like real life. I can really foresee how some moral high-riders will look down on me because I won't have that UNICEF logo on my avatar. Heck, even now people think I'm a bad person just because I shoot their virtual ship and steal their virtual components to sell on their virtual market while hoarding their virtual corpses in a virtual container.
How do you think these people will look at me when they are convinced I am refusing to help a RL good cause? Not knowing someone has never stopped forum trolls and local channel smackers before...
I agree with you, people should make contributions to organizations such as UNICEF, but not through this game.

Nobody's reading stories to my clone while she's sitting there all lonely in her tank waiting for me to die
Won't you please think about the clones?

Why UNICEF ?? why not WHO ? or any other of the world charities ? (P.S not flamming actually want to know)
Also why is it important to show people u donate to UNICEF in-game , I mean charity is given for the good of others, u shouldnt need recognition for it.
people who want recognition for charity are only being charitable becuase they want others to see how charitable they are , its more for them than the charity. (Not a personal attack just my opinion)

Why don't you pay Ç 20.00/month to CCP so they can give: Ç 1 to UNICEF Ç 1 to Catholic Church (so priests can live without working!!) Ç 1 to Green Peace Ç 1 to WWF Ç 1 to CCP (so maybe the Dev's Team can drink one more beer at month?) ____________________________

Why dont you just play the game? If you feel the need to donate to Charity, do it. But I dont see a reson to make it an game option. Charity is a good thing, but hardly combined with space.

i refuse to pay money to charities that have managers on 6 figure saleries and higher, maybe if they took a paycut and stopped being greedy.
There are many charities like this. Help the Aged is one, its a charity that bangs a drum about age discrimination and about how badly it needs money, then i see advertisements in the paper wanting a manager on a 6 figure salary and "must be over 50"
hypocrites.

Im sorry but i dont agree with this, this may come out the wrong way but here goes.
Everyone in their own country have internal problems yet people seem to focus on other 3rd world countries first... the UK and USA have god knows how many people living on the streets, domestic violence, child abuse and so on... if people actually paid as much attention to these attrocities as they did to lets say... the war in iraq then the world would be a better place.
I say we sort out our own countries before we even think of helping others... im all up for giving to charity when the need arises but when im walking down the street and someone asks me if i want to made a donation and i say i can't then they look at me as if im sad or somthing then thats not right.
And as the post before mine says, the directors of these charities have HUGE saleries which is paid by us... in our tax we give money to charities, i dont think its a good idea and the political implications would be dire for CCP.

if you want to donate, you can do it out of game, its not that hard. there's no point in a "feed children without food" option in a space age MMO tbh. -

UNICEF already has many ways in which it is possible to make direct donations to their organisation, if anyone wanted to. CCP needs to stay focused on what it's doing, tbh.

I'd never give money to a 'humanitarian' charity. I think there are too many people on the planet as it is. The WWF (world wide fund for nature) and other wildlife/planet charities would get my money first in every case.
