How does stock trading in EVE work at current? I understand you can buy get them - but once you have them...wtf do they do?
They only pay dividends if the corp choose to click the 'pay dividends' button every so often, and then they get to choose how much.
Also, do you get voting rights if you're not in the corp?
Can you use shares to get into a corp by force?
Like, could I buy shares of a corp, use them to get into the corp and take over the CEO position?
So, basically, how do you use them for profit, and how do you use them for power? Or can you even do either at all? |

All that is answered quite simply: Just like in real life. You can vote, receive dividends, force a takeover (assuming you're an employee) etc. with shares.

Yes it does. I would love to see a stock market created... and the see who would pull off the first pump and dump.

If you have shares, you get voting rights. Even if you are not in the corp (in fact, if you are in the corp you do not get voting right unless you also have shares). You can even be a CEO without having any shares.
I'm not sure of the "Running for CEO". I think you need to be a corp officer to start a "Run for CEO" vote, but I'm a bit fuzzi on this. Once it's started, only the shareolders get to vote for it. Note that you do not need to have shares to be CEO. A total hostile takeover would then require both the ability to start the "Run for CEO" vote AND the control of the majority of the shares.
Also if a dividend is distributed, it goes to shareholders not to corp members. That's why many corporations are made specifically for rising capital in an IPO and then distribute dividends. Bond based IPOs are handled without shares.
Some of the stock is then traded among players. There currently are two major stock exchange services that list EvE shares: EGSE (EvE Galactic Stock Exchange) and RESX (Real-time EVE Stock Exchange). You may also be interested in the Market Discussions Forum and in the ESMaR (EvE Share and Market Reporting) Blog.

Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 30/09/2008 15:22:01 Yeah in the corp/alliance I'm in we get regular dividends ( 1 to 2 months). Its not bad as an extra trickle of income getting a few mil here and there. Plus if taxes need changed we always set it to a vote. or if any other major corp policy changes need done we will set it to a vote as well.
