Evening Laides and Gents, I have looked but coudl not find a post on the topic. Hence here is my question. Each ship has a different rating in Ladar Radar magenetic and all the others.
COuld somone take the time to explain what all teh different ratings are and how they effect combat and everything else.
Also are the higher the numbers the better or teh lower?
Thanks in advance :)

Edited by: Gaijin Lanis on 20/06/2004 18:24:59 Four scanner types Four Jammer types (not counting multispec or bursts)
Which type and how much you have doesn't matter untill someone tries to jam you with electronic warfare modules. If your total scanner strength is reduced to zero, you loose all locked targets and you cannot reaquire them untill you have atleast 1 of any sensor type... So it only matters in PVP.

Those 4 stats indicate your ships sensor strength for that type.
Higher is better.
Their only purpose is to act as a measure against Electronic Warfare. Ie; to jam 14 points of Ladar, the jammer would need to hit the target with 14 or more points of Ladar jamming.
Eg; Scorpion equipped with 5 Multispectral jamming modules can jam any ship with up to 20 points of sensor strength in any of the four sensor types.

Also do these numbbes go up o nthe statis shown if ur skill increase them and the same thing with modes?
Also if one of the four stats is overcome does it take the same effect or does it have to affect the heighest one?
ANd one last question what makes one ship better for EW over another. FOr instance is ther ea sip that is better at jamming then other, same thing for webing and so on?
Thanks

the bigger the signature radius, the faster ppl lock on you and the easyer they hit you.
the bigger the scan resolution, the faster you lock on. -------------------

Edited by: Evangelist on 20/06/2004 19:53:48 Take the scorpion as an example. It has a gravimetric sensor strength of 16. To jam the scorpion you could either use specific gravimetric jammers (spatial destabilizers) which each have a jamming strength of -6 gravimetric. So to jam the scorp you would need 3, which would give you a jamming strength of 18 with 3 of the spatial destabilizers active. Or you could use say multispectral jammers which have a jamming strength of -4 on all sensor types, in which case you would need to use at least 4/5 of these modules to give you a jamming strength of 16/20 respectively.
Now, say you have the scorp jammed. He may have fitted ECCM gravimetric modules which are the counter for jamming with each module giving +3 points towards his sensors. So if you have him jammed with 5 multispectral modules with a combined jamming strength of 20, he could activate 1 ECCM gravimetric module which would give him a sensor strength of 19 - and he is still jammed cos you overpower him. If he happens to have a second that he activates then you cant jam him anymore as his sensor strength becomes 22 versus your jamming of 20.
Regarding success of jamming - the ship with the greatest number of medium slots is the best (which is the scorp).
Just remember that different ships use different types of sensor, so if you know what your enemy drives you can use specific modules, otherwise you can use multispectral or if your really keen you could use one of every sensor type and 2 multispectrals which would let you jam anything with a jamming strength of 20 or 5 multispectrals to achieve the same (there are different power grid requirements between multi and specific modules)
Also points to note - I think Im right in saying that you cant warp while jamming some one and jamming doesnt work against NPC pirates and it is an offensive action just like shooting your gun where as say ship scanner isnt.
