Hi guys. I havent played eve for a long time. Ive just used 4hours plex pass to write this post. I would like to get back to eve since it is a great game, but I am also a student and cant spend much money on games (and yes, 15euro a month is actually a lot in my country - 7% of my monthly budget) Lets say that I could buy 2 or 3 tops of a game time without regret.
I would like to know if there is a way to develop this character to be albe to earn a plex in these 2 months so I dont have to pay anymore to play eve. I was a miner with some skills developed. I have 30mil ISK in a wallet and a fully fitted retriever and some more ships. I am willing to share API keys with somebody that would like to help me, so he/she can take a look at my skills and other stuff.
Since I wont be able to post or send PMs here after this 4hours pass, I will be using this email: (it is not my "main" email so I wont bother if you want to troll and spam it). You can respond in this thread but send me also an email so I can give you API. Thanks |

API wont work after the 4 hours are off.
But making 500 mil in 2 months is very much possible. Not mining in a retriever though...
Trading can make you that if you can yourself sane doing it. I make my plexes with manufacturing/invention.
I am not all that good in giving guidance in this sort of thing though. Someone else may be able to help you a lot better.
Best regards, Suni |

Wow. I don't know if that is do-able within 2 months. It was 2 years ago when PLEX was 250 M. Now it's around 500 M and going up as I type.
I would set up a goal of 3 months and get into a Hulk as fast as you can. But to make that kind of money independently, you really will need a 2nd toon to haul or that goal is unreachable.
EVE is definitely a challenge.
But then 2 years ago it was just me. 2 years later it's 3 accounts with 5 toons. 2 mine with a 3rd giving an Orca Boost. All 5 do PI.
This makes enough to pay for all 3 with PLEX, but it's quite a scramble, especially if I need to fit a new expensive ship, so I usually pay for only 1 or 2 with PLEX depending.
Just letting you know how it can go.
Ohh poor silly goon chillrens. Nobody in high sec cares about your plans to occupy jita like a bunch of dirty hippies. "...as if 10,000 Goons cried out and were suddenly silenced" |

API keys work with inactive accounts. I was able to check my alts to see if they were worth reactivating or not. |

Bear in mind also that there has been steady inflation of the EVE economy from incursions as well as the fact that CCP recently announced a graphics card for PLEX program, which has driven up the demand for PLEX from wealthy players looking to snag some free real world hardware, as well as competition from speculators hoping to make a quick buck. |

It's definitely possible to do it with a single account, you're just going to have to focus all your training time on mining - related skills/ships. Your primary goal should be to get the Hulk, which also means you're training up skills like astrogeology along the way that further boost your yield.
Spend the time squeezing out marginal improvements here and there, whether it's through the mining skills/ship skills/mining drone skills/mining upgrades - it's worth it and they add up to give you a very nice mining yield at the end.
For ship progression I'd suggest the following:
1) Hulk 2) Bestower (Industrial ship with highest capacity at the lower skill levels)
Then jetcan mine, switch to the Bestower and use it to haul the ore back to the station. Yes, there's risks to jetcan mining, but manage it by choosing quieter systems/knowing who your local canflippers are/adjusting your mining times accordingly rather than choose to forego it altogether. The large increase in efficiency makes it worth the risk if you play intelligently.
That means don't be afraid to scout around a bit or even leave your region altogether for greener pastures. Choose your mining base wisely, it makes a big difference to the profitability/hassle of mining.
I'd suggest then training up for T2 Strip Miners/T2 mining crystals, and choosing one particular ore to cherry pick out of belts. Since you're operating solo, cherry picking is a lot more profitable then just harvesting every type of ore in the belt with T1 strips.
When choosing which ore type to mine remember to calculate price per m3, not price per unit. A lot of new miners fall into this trap I've found.
After you've trained up all your mining skills to a reasonable level, you might consider training up refining skills and grinding standings with a local corp so you can refine your ore into its component minerals. That adds around 10%-20% additional margin usually.
I got started in the game with a trial account/ PLEX loan from a friend, already paid it off and self - sufficient as far as paying for game time for ISK is concerned. It's not that hard, tbh - Just focus your skill training, and work at squeezing out the additional margins here and there. The end result's well worth the time, especially with the upcoming changes in the new expansion. There's a lot more to the profession, but hope the advice here helps. |

Looks like mining is one of the most dangerous activities in highsec. If you mine in populated systems, eventually your mining ship will get blown up by a gank.
So, be prepared and take actions to conter. I would pick a "backwater system" away from the heavy populated systems. Fly cheap, if I cant afford to lose a hulk. |

Just mining you're going to have the worst time playing this game (imho). Regardless of mineral prices on the rise, you will still have to mine quite a bit (est. 5 hours a day, 7 days a week) to nearly profit in a months time to come up with a plex. This is not including logistics of travel time, refining, selling, etc...
I make about 50-60m in a couple hours with some friends as a social activity with them as we discuss our goals and future with EVE and how to get there and such. We are industrial/market players. We are installing many operations such as Manufacturing, Planetary Interaction, Mining/Refining, and Marketing. We have spreadsheets across the board and updated prices to make profits with every industrial ship in the book.
Keep in mind this all takes a lot of work to get going, but once it's going you can make the money. I would never suggest doing only one profession in this game. Do many and get good at them. To get better, read about them, understand how they work to the core, and then exploit the process by doing something others aren't doing or just do it better. Working in a group will benefit you far greater.
Null sec + this process = profit. =D

This is actually wildly off the mark. I manage to mine 500,000+ units of Pyrox every 2 hours in high sec space. Assuming an average price of 45 ISK per unit that works out to about 22.5m every 2 hour period at the minimum. So say you just mine 2 hours every day. In a 30 - day month period you'll be earning about 675m. That's enough to afford a PLEX comfortably, with spare change.
I haven't maxed out all the mining - related skills yet since branching out into refining and manufacturing offered far higher returns for the skilling time spent, so the above figure is already somewhere at the lower end of what your max revenue could look like just from pure mining.
It's doable. Don't knock it till you've tried it. |

Thank you guys for advice. Ive decided to reactivate. I started some PI in high-sec on 3 characters to give me some passive income. I will also try some safe trading. Not much income but still some more ISK. For the rest of the time I will be mining with my main to get some more ISK. Actually I am not far away from Hulk, I mean, I have to buy exhumers skill book, so I can start learning it instantly. Then I should be able to buy hulk for money from mining, PI, and trading. I think I can earn a PLEX this way in 2 months. Maybe one if I dedicate some more time. |

If you need ISK for plex, why mine?
T2 Production - Need to update your manufacturing slots about 1/day, Your invention slots about twice per day. Profit ~ 20-40 million per day per toon. That alone will pay for your monthly plex . . .
Or if you prefer group activities, L5 mission running corps, Incursions, Wormhole corps all offer excellent ISK/hour.

Maybe cause he told us he wants to get that PLEX within two months. Maybe cause he will have to buy more skills to begin invention, he will have to wait for skilling time, without forgetting the POS for copy and invention free slots : he will not do that in 2 months and earn a PLEX (assuming he has got 30M in his wallet). Concerning PVE, maybe he does not have the proper skills, he is next to the Hulk, not next to the Legion or Tengu.
"Maybe" once again cause it is cool. |

Mining for a plex in 2 months might be possible with one account.. though I have to say if you aren't in a hulk it will be hard... I find it hard to mine for 3 plex in one month in high sec anymore since the price of plex has excalated out of control (that's with three accounts working together) |

Solo Hulk is about 90-95k m3 of ore per hour. Hi-sec ore values right now are in the 150-170 ISK/m3 range. So a solo hulk with no support or boosts can pull in 13.5-16.1M ISK/hr. Covetor is 15% less yield per hour. Get Mining Foreman V boost from being fleeted with an alt and boost your yield by 10%, fleet with an orca pilot and boost yield 40-65% (T2 gang link orca can push the ISK/hr for a single hulk up to 25-26M ISK/hr).
Call it 16M/hr to be safe. At 500M/u for a PLEX you have to mine for at least 31 hours/month.
That's too much like work for me. So I just pay for my account a year at a time ($11/mo).
And doing PI harvest planets on all (3) characters is a good move. Even if you only make 200M/mo per three characters in hi-sec, that's a lot fewer hours that you have to spend mining. |

I suggest you join an indy corp. For effective mining you really need a dedicated hauler and a booster, corp mining ops provide that. Also a corp can help you while you are learning the ropes and saving up for that hulk, or even partially sponsor you. Solo mining every month to earn plex is really tiring, having friends and social interactions make the game a lot more enjoyable. |

Best advice is join a indy corp and jump in on some mining opps.
Although it is easy enough to earn a plex per month mining just dont expect to have much after that |

If you're alone, you're going to have a hard time earning enough ISK for a PLEX, in just one month. Especially if you're not able to fly a Hulk. Your best bet would be to find a good Industry-corp, who are willing to help you earn the needed ISK (I can name one ), or even provide you with the PLEX entirely and let you work it off later. However, you shouldn't just join any Industry-corp. Join one whose pilots are active at the same time as you. Don't join the first one to offer you a PLEX either. Talk to them and find out how they are before applying to join
If you're just a little brave, joining a WH-Industry-corp is even more lucrative for a miner. Got a Battlecruiser with lots of gun-slots? You'll be able to harvest gas in a WH with ease. Got a spare Retriever? Go get a hauler and a few friends to join you, and mine all the Arkonor you want (Note: even when using low-efficiency ships, 5 ships and a hauler can easily make about 25mil/hour off of mining, refining and selling Arkonor without risking any valuable ships)
Generally, it's all up to you to find the right corp for you. |

However cool it would be to get more people into Eve, considering your situation I have to say: focus on your studies, finish your degree and keep in touch with Eve over the forums in order to make a decision when you have more time and money. From reading these repleis, and I agree, it should be clear that you cant casually play Eve and sustain a monthly subscription on just a single mining solo account with entry level skills. And even if it would be technically possible, you would have to scale down everything that makes the game enjoyable. Enjoy student life instead |

As Scrapyard laid out above you can make a plex with about 1hr per day of mining. Since mining does not require much attention, you can do it while doing your school work. I know I spent about 2hrs per day doing reading for classes when I was at university, so the extra money can be used to fuel the pvp character on that same account.
You wont be rich, but it should be enough to have "fun" for "free". |
