Im looking into creating a new corp with my brother(7 days old), I am a newbie my self though my learning curve is quite good. I am 23 days old caldari achura inventor with 1.6mil SP. I have the neccesery skills for creating a corp with my brother from another mother(a soldier from minmatar). a big part of my skills are in engineering and science(Laboratory Op lvl 5) which was my starting point and since then I have trained gunnery(12 skil - 130.000), Missle(11 skil - 60.000), Nav(5 skil- 90.000) and Space ship com(5 skil- 182.600) which means I can fly (caldari) battleship and soon Battlecriuser. We are interasted in going towards the merc path and way of life. My first idea of creating a corp was for us to share loot and easy hanger mangement, but to creat a corp solely for that reason seems to me as somewhat lame. so my queations are: -Is it too soon? and we should just continue to fleet up and gain more knowledge as well as exp(join another corp ext)? or should we go for it and try and build something together from scratch? -Is it possible to create a corp that can generate some ISK(at start) with two babys in dipers and milk behind ther ears?(in eve terms naturaly) -and finaly with an inventor and a soldier that want to be mercs, what would you recomend we should do as a corp?

be prepared to be war deced eventually.
it can make some isk, but will be slow going
recruiting is very slow .
also i'd be careful with the shared hangar, as you will eventually have someone rip it off and run.
at your point i'd almost recommend joining an established corp, unless you plan on staying in your corp even if it is just you 2.
a friend and I have done just this, we have our own corp and even if it does not grow it will still be just us. . It is all about the ISK

The one major thing you have to keep in mind: as soon as you are in a player corp, you are open to wardecs from other player corps. That is part of the game mechanic an not griefing.
The corp will only produce as much isk as the members are able to produce (and take taxes off that member incom). Later, a corp is able to place and sustain a POS and offer research slots to its members, but a beginner corp lacks the standing to do so.
My advice would be to join another playercorp and to learn the ropes. Furthermore, most playercorps support their members with basic equipment.

thanks for the advice.
We are planning on staying together through out our time in eve. Our online time is limited(therfore my problem joining a corp) Recuritment will happen eventualy when we have something substantial to offer as a corp. For the mean time we want to fly together and study our surroundings and get our footing. We both are new to MMOG platform and r overwhelmed by its magnetude and possibilitys.
I understand being war deced but will this happen so soon? why would someone go through that for a blimp in the universe? I will continue my research nulla nature of a deep side that lays deep within |

It might happen soon, it might never happen.
As for why: ...doing whatever you want to whoever you want whenever you want for any reason you might have or for no reason at all are all standard day to day gameplay...
If you do find yourself in a war, here is a guide to help you through it.
Keep a low profile and you will likely be fine.

I'd really suggest joining another established corp for a while, even if just for a few weeks.
It will give you a much better idea of how corporations are operated, and you'll probably get the answers to most of your questions while in it. You'll also make some good contacts, if you hit it off.
Since you're both looking to start your own mercenary-corp, you should definitely take some crash-courses in PvP. (Agony Unleashed offers them, without the obligation to join). Join an existing merc corp, to see how things are run. (No suggestions). Hope one of you two has natural, real-life leadership skills.
Recruiting is really hard, with just a few members. It gets easier the more you have. Especially take into consideration the timezone of any recruits you bring into your corp. They (and you) won't have much success as a coordinated force, if they are asleep while you're online (and vice-versa) when you only have a few members.
Make connections. As potential mercs, don't burn bridges. Have fun.

Just the two of you? I'd say no, unless you're missioning a lot and tossing all that loot into the corp.
Industrial corps invest a tonne of ISK into Blueprints, research on those Blueprints and other infrastructure before even a portion of that investment starts rolling back in. Sure, it will come... but you gotta have the plan in place, the will to do it and a bit of patience.
I don't know a lot about mercenary corps, but I imagine they have similar issues. Plan, willpower, patience... and a bit more than two pilots.
Good luck. I'm rambling now.

My buddy and I made a corp, 4 days later we are war dec'ed by a fellow with a fast little ship that we can't kill in our wussie ships, so far it is ok since it is only one guy and we have just been able to avoid him.
If it were a corp of any size we would have been really screwed.

Edited by: Luciuse on 04/10/2008 12:11:24 So We did it. Managing the corp it preety stright forward,we are missioning alot at the moment and the turn over is not all that bad for us at this stage. Our business plan shows we can make a small profit at the end of the month after expences(offices,Ammo ext). So we doing ok. My brother is out missioning most of the time while I'm trying to make some contacts and flow up contracts. Like any other business, it's starts slow, but we are pressistent.
Being war deced is not something I fear, from what I understand it is part of life no matter were you go or what you do.(unless u glide though life with out trying to be part of any big picture). I am willing to fight for my survival, as we all do. We will train our Pvp capabilitys, both of us are real life ex military although we did not fly spaceships we do have strategic thinking and not strangers to any warfare. Leadership is no issue.
