I will be getting my Thorax by end of this week hopefully.
Have been looking around for a decent setup for a Thorax. I will mainly use it in PVE. I would prefer more to armour tanking i guess
Any advice ? Some ppl i met online suggest that i go for a Vexor instead. |

What kind of PVE? But generally yeah, vexor is the way to go. Train up drone skills and work up the family tree. Vexor<Myrm<Domi. Advantage is that damage types can be switched to suit the mission. Also rails suck and blasters are too short ranged. Contact me in game if you need any more help.

A vexor is in general easier for missions. Allthough a thorax also has no issues at all with doing lvl 2 missions. And if you rather rely on guns than drones the thorax is the way to go (thorax -> brutix -> megathron, brutix not that great but good enough for missions).
And allthough lasers are in general better turrets than railguns, railguns dont suck.
The best setup depends a bit on your skills. Which t2 equipment can you use? Cap rechargers (they dont require much skill for t2s)? |

Mids: 10MN Afterburner Stasis Webifier cap recharger
Lows: 1600mm plate Medium armor rep Damage control II Passive explosion resist Magnetic field stablizer
5 x warrior drones
I like turrets better so i went for a thorax instead of a vexor, its really personal preference. This setup has no problem with any level 2 mission so far with my 1 million skill points in gunnery

425mmII. Every other railgun is a bit lame. But with regards to what Furb said, it does depend what shiny far off uber ship you have your heart set on. If you like turrets then stick with your Rax i guess, but a Mega will never be better than a Domi for PVE. One other thing to consider is attributes. If you have a strong Intelligence/Memory set your going to get good drone skills faster than turret skills. The opposite will be true if you have good Perception/Will. |

The Vexor is probably a better choice like you said some people suggested to you because of where its damage bonuses lie. In PvE missions, you have to kill a large number of NPC ships that deal a specific damage type and are weak to a specific damage type. By using a ship that is more oriented towards drones, you can:
(1) Tank easier. You won't have to waste your low slots that could be used for armor tanking instead on mods that enhance gun damage. You also won't have to worry about getting into gun range so you can kite the NPC ships and prevent them from all ganging up on you at once.
(2) Kill easier. Again, you won't have to worry quite as much about range as your drones can hit anything within your control/targeting range without you having to worry about your optimal, falloff, transversal, etc. Using drones also gives you the ability to pick and choose what type of damage you want to deal based upon what NPC's you are fighting as opposed to hybrid guns on a Thorax that will always fire kinetic/thermal damage. |

i would of course prefer to use drones as well while dealing damage with my high slots, maybe rails or blaster.
from what i have read, vexor would be better for a PVE ? but won't drones take out enemies a bit slow compare with mixing drones and (rails or blaster) ?
If i use a vexor setup, would it have to be something like this :
4x 150mm Prototype 1 Gauss Gun 1x E50 Prototype Energy Vampire
2x Cap Recharger II 1x Stasis Webfier I
2x Damage Control II 1x Medium Armour Repairer II 1x N-type kinetic hardner II 1x N-type thermal hardner II
Would this be sufficient of going for a pure DPS thorax with a mixture of drones is better ? Most of my drones skills are at lvl IV and V though.

For a missioning Vexor setup, you are pretty close. I would personally go with something more like this though:
4x 150mm Railguns 1x Salvager
1x Afterburner 2x Cap Recharger
1x 1600mm Plate 1x Medium Armor Repper 2x Armor Hardeners (type depends on what you are fighting... fit what is needed for each mission) ----- My Pirate Blog: http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

Because of this, Vexor. Bonused drones can put out very good damage, and track much better than low-skilled guns will.
L2 mission Vexor would be something like this. . .
[Vexor, Cookie-cutter L2 Runner] 4x 150mm Railgun (don't get Protos unless you're swimming in ISK, Compressed are almost as good) 1x Medium Nosferatu I/Tractor Beam I/Salvager I
1x 10MN Afterburner 2x Cap Recharger II
1x Medium Armor Rep II 2-3x Active Armor Hardeners (rat specific) 0-1x 1600mm Armor Plate
As for drones, I'd bring mediums and lights specific to the rats in question, perhaps with a few spares.
An alternative if you're feeling intrepid.
[Vexor, Sentry Vexor]
1-2x Drone Link Augmentor 3-4x 150mm Railgun
1x 10MN AB 1x Omnidirectional Tracking Link I 1x Sensor Booster I
1x Medium Rep 2x Active Hardener 1x Cap Power Relay
3x Curator I 5x Hobgoblin I
Sentries aren't like other drones, they sit in one place and shoot. They're more like deployable turrets than normal drones
The idea here is to get about 60-70km away from the rats and then drop your sentries and just snipe them on approach. Rats are dumb, and will fly straight towards the source of their pain. This means they're easy targets and the sentries can rack em up. If they get too close for the sentries to track, scoop them and unleash the hobblers to finish the rats. Shoot the frigates first and you can avoid that being a problem. This tactic scales well, the Sentry Dominix is one of the premier Gallente ships for mission whoring.

i have gotten around using this setup for a Vexor and tested it out with some LVL 2 missions.
what do your think about it ?
High 4x 150mm Prototype I railgun (antimatter and Iron charge) 1x Drone Link Augmentor I
Medium 2x Capasitor Recharger II 1x 10mn afterburner
Low 1x 1600 Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1x N-Type Kinetic Armor Hardener I 1x N-Type Thermic Armor Hardener I 1x Med armor Repairer II or DCU II (which is better ???)
Drone 5x Hammerheads I 5x Bouncer I
It seems that i get whipped out by missles if i were to go any closer than 20km. My shields and armor are like melting butter.
Any suggestions so that i can improve it better ? My guns are just as an additional damage accs, my damage dealer would be my Hammerheads. I am working my drone skills to V so i can use Hammerhead II asap.
