Hi I have a suggestion that might be quite useful. I propose that the player can hit a record button in the game, and record what is happening. But instead of just recording what is rendered to the screen, the program stores the position and orientation of the objects within 300 km radios, to a file, until the use presses stop, or a certain size limit is met. With some kind of viewer, that uses the game engine, the user can view a recording, position the camera as he/she wishes and it could be possible to rewind and fast forward in time, like a movie player. Some other possibilities could be that have the camera could chase an object, or just sit still in space while the spaceship passes close by. Perhape it would be possible to save video clips from this viewer, and then merge them to a movie.
With this tool a leader of a battle can analyze a battle, or a user can create a movie from in game footage.
I would love to see a battle with multible capitals, lots of bs's batteling it out.
Let me know what you think

This feature has been asked for many times with no result. Seems like a logical and easy feature and make the game battle so much cooler.
The only thing I can think of that is keeping ccp from doing this is; 1) It would leave TOO much evidence of laggy battle (increase in petitions) 2) Files of the playback positions will give away their secrets (how the code work etc...) 3) They are already working on it but want to keep it a surprise.

I've requested this before as well.
It should be very simple to create, it's used in a lot of FPS games, it requires very little to none resources to record either.
But yeah i think CCP is just scared of it being a new way to prove the glitches in the game, then again it would give people a way to edit recorded data...
Just implement it, for video making purposes.

Maybe we should remember that in an FPS you just save everything thats happening on the entire map, this would not be possible with EVE.
Also, saving this with the in-game engine would mean you would need the same engine to run it.
Personally I like the idea but the way I see it. If you really want to capture the moments then just have more people in the fleet record while they play and edit that footage. It isn't easy but just look at the Lacrimosa video and it just shows that it's still possible to make good videos with some planning and fraps.

Incorrect, actions are recorded only if the client knows about it

Easier, faster, better and you could record the game without ruining your fps. Movie making isn't the only benefit.
