I can almost manufacture t2 drones now (not research). Firstly, why are BPO sooooooo expensive? Its it like when fuel companies all get together in an effort to keep the costs high or do that take a astronomical time and cost to research?
Secondly, even BPC seem hard to come by and also the ML and PL seem so shit.
Please enlighten me.
I have looked at Hobgoblin and Hammerheads.
Cheers

T2 BPO are expensive due to their rarity. There's an active discussion on the cost effectiveness of T2 BPO vs T2 BPC in market discussion forum.
The T2 BPC are mostly the result of invention which explains the poor ME and PE.

Again, it shows my lack of skills being a newbie to inventing but I will ask anyway.
I though T2 BPO cam from inventing?
So lots of people invent, so there would be lots of originals.
Am I wrong?
Also when inventing, why would that explain the poor ME and PE?
Cant they invent better or get better skills??

Edited by: Brock Nelson on 06/10/2008 03:11:35 T2 BPO doesn't come from inventing. Awhile ago, when people had research agent, CCP introduced T2 BPO as part of lottery with research agents which is why they're extremely rare.
T2 BPC comes from inventing off T1 BPC. Reason for low ME/PE is that by default, its -1ME/-1PE. Invention is in a sense, reverse engineering and like in real life, reverse engineering doesn't always give you high quality compared to the original stuff, hence, why the poor ME/PE.
You'll see with various T2 BPC that some are -4,-2, etc. That's mainly due to the use of decryptor. Decryptors is option and it helps you to increase your chance as well the chance of producing more than 1 run BPC. There are 5 types, there's a excellent stickie on the top of the forum that tells you everything about invention.
Better invention skills just means that you'll have a better chance of successfully inventing something. Again, check out the stickie.
However, sometimes you'll find T2 BPC that have really good ME/PE, that's because they were copied from T2 BPO that were researched; not inventing off T1 BPO.

Invention creates blueprint copies (BPCs). These are limited run. If invention produced BPOs, then the growing quantity of BPOs would eventually stifle invention.

Read "eventually" as 1-2 months, the time to train all the datacores gathering alts as inventors. With 10 billion isk, the price of a T2 frigate BPO it is possible to buy the GTC for 20 accounts for 2 months, that is 60 research alt. If all of them are inventing they could do 11 invention attempt each for a ship BPO every 2,5 days. So 660 attempts x 60 days /2.5 = 15.840 attempts. Even with a chance of success as low as 1/5.000 that mean 3 BPO in 2 months.
Multiply for the number of people and alliances that would be doing that and you will have a clear picture of how fast all the T2 BPO would be invented.

Excactly. No more T2 BPOs are generated. You get only copies from invention. War. War never changes.

Keep in mind that while it's probably profitable to invent Hammerheads, and some larger T2 drones, smaller drone types have a good supply from BPOs (read, the people who paid billions for their BPOs will take a decade to pay theirs back), and so very low prices, you would make more selling many T1 ammos than building some T2 items from BPOs.
It's also worth noting that generally the EM/Kinetic drones are lesser used, and or are only used for ratting where less are lost than in PvP, so their demand is not that high either. Thermal drones are the most used in PvP, so consequently have the highest demand and the most scope for being profitably invented. Small drones are so cheap they're often not worth inventing.
