Should alliances stay in 'their' space? After all, they have all the minerals right on their doorstep. Why would it be necessary for a corp of an alliance to work in Empire space? I find this rather puzzling. Have they fallen out with their comrades? I can only assume this to be the case. Why else would a corp work out of an Empire region on the far side of the map from where their alliance is based? Not being a member of any alliance I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Cheers.

it's easier to mine scordite and veldspar in empire space than waste 5-6 guys protecting when they could mine in empire space :) ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end.

Some corps might be both 0.0 and 1.0 corps at the same time or something...

Edited by: Itsumo Komaru on 23/06/2004 17:46:41 As far as mining, Alliances use safer Empire space to conduct training of new recruits. Efficiency counts out in 0.0, and it would be foolish to let a total neophyte out there without a few practice runs. Additionally, as someone said, sometimes you just need to mine some low-quality ore. Why battle with Rats (PC or otherwise) if you don't have to?
This, combined with recruitment, research, and industry needs, appear to me to be the reasons even the most independent Alliances retain a presence in Empire space. As far as strange locations for operations (such as on the side of Empire space farthest from their usual stomping grounds) this could simply be where their Empire bases are located. Where a Corporation starts out is often very far from where an Alliance ends up.
While I've only been in the employ of a Corporation for a couple weeks, I am somewhat confident in my observations. However, if anyone can add or elaborate further, I too am eager to learn.
