No. There was just not enough threads about it before, but with this one, you personally have made it possible!

Nobodies tried it before because it's probably very resource and time hungry organising what is to all intents and purposes a full scale military invasion in a system with what amounts to an invincible security force. It'll be costly in ships for the invaders and leaves them with a possible weakness in null. Also ego, Goons haz a collective one, and rightly so, they play hard and imho utilise the sandbox to the max. You've got to admire the balls on them for even thinking about it. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

Put it this way.....
The Burning of Jita had been planned WAY WAY WAY before Mittens got banned.
The Jitacaust (as I call it) was originally planned as a celebration if/when Mittens won the CSM chair. And it was scheduled for THIS weekend (1 week after fan fest).
In light of recent events, the motivation and timing have changed.
The high sec Ice Intervention was actually practice to test CONCORD mechanics for the Jita Burn.... And also to test fleet compositions needed to make it work.
/speculation over
PS: This isnt just blind willy-nilly ganking. There will be a method to this madness. Trust me. ...Can't. Tell. If ...Troll? Or Serious.... |

Ice Incursions weren't a field test of Concord because most of the .7 sec Ice systems didn't get touched. Even now all the gankery is restricted to .5 because it's the only system that allows for Concord delay to get it done. Jita has no belts and a .9 sec Concord timer, ie: No timer.
All the power to them but if this works and Goons manage to do it, expect it to happen alot more often.

When you get right down to it Jita is a player designated trade hub; CCP did not choose it... There is nothing sacred about the location other than that's where players have chosen to congregate for trade. Will the "burning" of Jita mean anything? Probably not. The participants will eventually get tired of it and calm down - things will largely go back to the way they were. (that is if anything really happens at all) |

The market is a self healing system. Sellers move a) where buyers are or b) where there is an established place to conduct business in a relatively safe environment. Should Jita actually burn then a new hub for Caldari space would eventually establish itself. However I think for historic reasons it will remain at JIta when the market calms down, everyone "meh"s at the goons interdiction, and business will return to normal.
In the meantime let them burn it. And if you dont want it to burn put together a fleet and stop them. It is hisec so Concord, albeit busy, will be there to attempt to stop it.
CCP if this happens, do not interfere! |

Nothing more than a bunch of monkeys throwing ***** at the visitors, screaming for attention. If they were even half serious about it, they would start today and do it until the 28th. As it stands, pure irrelevency, chest thumping, back slapping, smack talking, nothing more.
Who gives a f*ck about Jita anyways? Nothing to see here folks, go back to your homes. To stand before a man at an inquisition, knowing that he will rejoice when we die, knowing that he will commit us to the stake and its horrors without a moment's hesitation or remorse if we do not satisfy him, is not an experience much less cruel because our inquisitor does not whip us or rack us or shout at us. |

Also, I highly doubt anything will happen on that date. Why give advance warning to everyone? |

...because they know most won't heed it, but it allows CCP to prepare the node for the unusually heavy load. They want to shoot people and take stuff. Doesn't get much done if they can't actually find anyone. "A man with a drone-boat has nothing but time on his hands." |

Aw, don't get discouraged, little monkey, the mean ol' pubbie didn't mean to hurt your feeling. Adolph had his Reichstaag fire. Mitt has to have his replica. Jita burning...think about how thickheaded an idea it is. They can't actually destroy the stations, of course. So...they what....ensconce themselves, set up various sniping bookmarks, command their ranks (I'd assume all their alliance buds are obliged to show for this) to suddenly appear, snipe something then get Concorded...
Maybe the idea is to fill the system with wrecks to crash the node? Hurl themselves against freighters and n00b frigates in a valiant show of heroism? (It gets kind of fuzzy here.)
Some figure - how many ships they have available to sacrifice on their altar of chest beating (6,000 or so) has been "reported." Of course, a Goon reported it so...you can really take THAT to the bank. They plan to give up all those ships, and half the fittings? (No T2 I'm sure...no one's THAT heroic.)
So...adequate response? When the last Goon ship turns to wreckage, I'll be out there with a Noctis. Maybe this isn't such a bad idea after all.
