I'm flying a well trained Paladin for Amarr missions. Blockade frequently comes up and invariably turns in to a complete waste of time. The Paladin is terrible at this mission. The reason is the heavy tracking disruption.
I tried switching to an AB + Pulse/Scorch setup in hopes that I could burn up close and "shotgun" the cruisers that are disrupting my turrets, but that doesn't really work much better than Tachyons.
Is there a fitting that will complete this mission in a respectable amount of time, or should I just consider flying a different ship? I basically have no missile skills.
I'm already considering training a Legion (only days away) for wormholes. I wonder if an MWD Legion with pulses could wipe out the cruisers pretty quick... |

I use a dual rep Abaddon and blitz the mission... If it is possible to say "blitz" with a such setup. Drones are the key as lasers become useless due to the overmassive tracking disruption.
Sometimes it goes wrong and damage becomes too important to afford to kill the next trigger; in theses cases I just close my eyes, let my drones do the job, and try to remember why I have chosen to fly Amarr instead of Caldari like everyone else.

Navy Domi, just for that little extra... puts lvl 4's to shame.
Probably plenty of other ships will to tho. But drones seem to be the way to go in this case. Atleast it works out for me. When I point to the moon don't stare a my finger! |

although why spend a bunch of cash on a ship that will only be used on 1 mission. Cruise Raven will blitz it with little effort. |

Use long range turrets and kite them. Tracking isn't a big issue when they are following you at a low traversal. |

I would suggest so too. Kill the web-tower, slowboat away. Or use a missile boat. |

if you can fly a mach, or anyother autocannon ships, fly them for sansha blockades.
NPC TDs do not affect falloff, do not know if it is intended or not, but it even with 1 km optimal while disrupted, it will be easy to kill the NPC rats as long as you watch angular velocity.
or just use a tengu |

I can't believe some of you guys... The solutions are to buy a second account and dual box, spend months training up strategic cruisers or some pirate faction ship...
To the people telling me to kite the TDs- Are you certain you can outrun the cruisers and frigates in a battleship with an AB? A MWD wont be sustainable.
To the drone users- Do you sentries to kill things? I'm finding the damage a little lackluster... though it's obviously better than no damage with a TD'd Paladin, of course. I tried 5 Curators (The optimal seemed appropriate) and I think they're faster than Ogres due to travel time. Hammers were completely unable to kill the elite cruisers. |

well i did say fly any other auto cannon ship because npc tds don't affect falloff.
Personally, I would rather decline sansha blockades if the only ship i could fly were laser boats.
Sitting still until your medium drones kill the elite cruisers that TD or try warping out and back with a sharpshooting fit is too much of a PITA for me.

You wont be able to outrun, but: If you start moving to the left after warp in, you will build up some distance. Distance kills transversal (aiganst NPCS), whitout transversal, TD becomes less of an issue.

Yollande Wong wrote:Is there a fitting that will complete this mission in a respectable amount of time, or should I just consider flying a different ship? Hi Yollande, easiest solution of your problem is to fit your paladin with tachyons and tracking computers with optimal scripts. When td cruisers spawn, manually fly in the same direction as them to reduce angular velocity. Tcs with optimal script will give your tachs enough falloff (yes, npc tracking disruptors do not affect falloff) to kill td cruisers fast.
[Paladin, New Setup 1] Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Damage Control II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L Salvager II Small Tractor Beam II Small Tractor Beam II
Large Capacitor Control Circuit II Large Capacitor Control Circuit II
With this fit (use rat specific hardeners, if you are experienced mission runner, you can do with em + th hardener in this mission and use free low for tracking enhancer) you should be able to finish The Blockade under 20 minutes, with maxed character and 5% implants in around 15 minutes. Only better ship for this mission is nightmare, but its only 1-2 minutes faster while having very limited salvage abilities. |

The Legion ought to be able to approach and shotgun the offending cruisers with pulse. Get in under TD'd optimal and web the target, don't orbit, and you'll be able to take it out. This is a slow process of course, but it will get it done. Best to continue with your plan to train for legion if you are opposed to Tengu, who knows for how long missiles will be able to ignore TDs... |

The faster frigates, cruisers, and spider drones are of course a priority, but when you are at 100 km from them you have lots of time to deal with them. Note that NPC cannot hit you at over 90 km (I like to stay at 105 km).

for the longest time i ran paladin with 4 sinks and 2 tracking comps and yes.. blockade was slightly slower than other missions. completion time well over half an hour..
then i switched one heatsink to tracking enhancer.
they disrupt your optimal range but they leave your falloff alone.
so having dual TC and a TE your multi falloff stil sits conviniently where the TD sanshas are and while they\re aproaching you can put significant amount of damage into them and bring them down.
if isk is not an issue get faction tracking enhancer aswell as tracking comps(2 of these) and with tachys i downed sansha blockade in under 20 minutes.. from undock to dock.
is this reasonable amount of time? |

I've used sentries a lot. Curators are good for this mission - swap for Gardes when things start to get close.
Hammerheads should be able to kill those elite cruisers no problem. You probably have bad drone skills. |

Better yet, burn towards them. Once you get inside their preferred orbit range, they'll burn directly away from you. Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.
