Should a L3 Q19 R&D agent really only be netting me 11.61 RP/day?
I hear about other people on over 100 a day...
What gives?
I meet their requirements of L2 in Elec Eng' - do further levels in this above their req's *really* help out that much?

Yes, higher level of the research field skill improves RP/day, because the skill lvl acts like an multiplicator. I get ~195 RP/day from my research agent, having effective quality of 32 and lvl4 gallentean starship engineering.
The formula is:
RP/day = (Agent skill level + player skill level)¦ * [(Agent's effective quality/100)+1] * Research Field Bonus
In my case this means: (3+4)¦ * [(32/100)+1] * 3 = 49 * 1.32 * 3 = 194,04 RP/day _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |

Some fields give a multiplier to the RP/day, yours doesn't because it's a very wide field.
I believe you've misunderstood the "requirements" of L2 in elec eng. That is the agent's skill level, you just require L1 to start a project. The higher your skill and the agents effective quality, the more RP/day you'll get.
Agent EQ is affected by negotiation (+5 per level) - Train that up and you'll get more points per day :)
Hope this helps you. -------------

But training up the research skill lvl is much more effecient than training negos, as you can see from the formula. _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |

so, player skill level means the relevant skill (eg. lvl4 gallentean starship engineering). What is research field bonus? Auction your items for isk, works sort of like ebay. |

Is it not connections you should train, negotiations increase pay, connections increases standings and therefore rp

Research Field Bonus is afaik a multiplicator given to some field of research that give rare items, like Interceptor BPOs. This Research Field Bonus can be found in the Info Tab of your active research agent. _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |

Negotiations does not directly increase pay, it increases effective quality, which then results in higher pay. Effective quality is also the only way to raise RP/day apart from higher research skills, so negotiations is the way to go.
Connections only influences effective quality if you break a round number in standing (with research agents: >1.0 with skill 3 and 2.0 with skill 5), and each point of standing only increases effective quality by 1. Most ppl have connections at 3 anyway, and getting it to 5 just to get 1% more RP isnt worth it, so nothing to gain from this skill here.
