When a ship explodes at the moment, no damage is done to the surrounding ships. If a cruiser, for instance, is 1k from a battleship when it explodes, the cruiser should receive damage.
So, I propose:
Battleship explosion - 750 damage to everything within 10,000m Industrial explosion - 400 damage to everything within 7,500m Cruiser explosion - 250 damage to everything within 5,000m Frigate explosion 100 damage to everything within 2,500m
Also, ships self destructing should be a viable combat technique, so I would propose an increase on the above damage by 25 times for a ship that self destructs. --------------------------------------------------

Neat idea, but if a killed ship (not a self-destructed one) did it too it would really screw over blaster users, you have to be *close* to use those.
As for self-destruction, yes Id like to see it more viable too, but making them do huge amounts of damage may not be the way to do it, especially if frigates hurt a lot when they go boom...just imagine a rat faction sending a dozen MWD vigils into a BS (which cant shoot em down now)... _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

i agree (mostly) with your post
25X is alot though double sounds better to me also since this is explosion Damege Armor and shield would protect as they useally would against exploding Damege meaning even frigates would stand a chance surviving a BS explosion
also a range of damege would work for me like your 750 points from a BS when you are within 1 km but maybe only 75 if you are 9+km away (up to 10) i dont know if this would be posible
also the faster ships (frigates) should be able to outrun the explosion Thank You Paw Sandberg

In theory it sounds good, but in actuality you really would penalize a group of frigates. Frigates swarming around a battleship to take it down, should not get blown up after the b.s. explodes. Frigates already have a lot to over come in order to take down a battleship and it should not be turned into a sucide run.

How much Damege can a frigate take ??
in my opinion selfdestructing ships and ships that blow should NOT be able to kill a frigate that has no Damege however one there is already near death when the BS blows yeah the explosion would hurt or destroy it as well
i just dont think a 750 point blast will kill a frigate AFTER THE ARMOR AND SHIELD bonus have been calculated again i may be wrong that has hapened :-) Thank You Paw Sandberg

This would easily be exploitable during a war in empire space.
Innocent (or not) bystanders could take damage and cause Concord to come to their defense, thereby destroying the victorious ship in that particular confrontation. Even self-destructing ships could cause damage to innocents. In either of these cases there are still the security loss issues.
I think this is why there is currently no damage. Less hassle during war time.
