Any post patch suggestions for a PvP setup on the Ares Interceptor?

I'm certainly no expert, but I've got one decked out right now that serves me fairly well. 2x Anode Light Neutrons (still hunting the elusive modals for my taranis) 1x Avdanced Limos, swapping defenders with other ammo as necessary
1x Small Neutron Saturation Injector 1x Tech2 1MN MWD
1x Cap Power Relay 1x Micro-Aux Power Core 1x 50mm nanofiber armor 1x named small armor repair unit.
I may try to cram a 10MN AB instead of the 1MN MWD for shield/cap purposes, but it doles out a fair spank on the crusaders I've been able to test it against, and larger ships just get chewed up.

I'm still stabilizing my loadout since the patch, but this is my current Ares favorite:
2 light electron blasters rocket launcher 1 MN MWD Warp scrambler (the 7.5km kind) or webber, depending on mood 2 micro aux power cores 400mm armor cap power relay
The electron blasters do a nice amount of damage without taking much cap, and they have amazing tracking (allowing you to orbit your target tightly at high speed while still getting hits). Low slots are fairly heavily dedicated towards armor tanking, allowing you (especially if your hull upgrades skill is trained up, and you use a decent armor mod) to have more armor than most cruisers fit.
Another variant on that fits these into the low slots instead:
micro aux power core 200mm armor cap power relay small armor repairer
The variant with the 400mm armor was my favorite pre-patch (with the mids and high slots set up as a webbing/missile boat), since it allowed me to soak up 4+ cruise missile hits. I'm a big fan of armor tanking this ship, but I've been messing around with the variant that uses the 200mm armor plus the small armor repairer, too, reasoning that it is harder now to deal a bunch of raw damage to the ship all at once.

Thx Shintoko, I never thought of armor tanking an interceptor.

Shintoko, you use the rocket launcher with defenders? How about ammo for those blasters?
Ever tried changing the launcher to a nosferatu? I need to try this myself, if it's any help in soaking up damage with the repairer.

The rule is to always use antimatter in blasters. The reason is that they only got about 1k optimal range which already demands of you to be almost inside the ship you are shooting so cutting the range down to 500m isn't a big deal. The only other differences between ammo is capacitor usage and if you feel that you can't power your guns with antimatter ammo you should just use smaller guns and antimatter on them they use less pg and cpu to. __________ Capacitor research |
