I need some help from the PVPers in C&P. I am relitivley new at pvp and my corp has recently been wardec'ed, instead of running or hiding I have chosen to try and fight, however the corp that has wardeced me has way more experienced players than we do. They like to use ethier big ships that we cant blob or fast ships I cant catch.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap setup or tactic that I can use to slow the smaller ships down. I would prefer to stay in a t1 cruiser and keep the setup as cheap as possible. if anyone has any tips for me please post them I would like to improve my pvp skills since being a carebear is getting boring. |

More people are gonna give the same advice, but I think you might wanna look at blackbirds and rifters.
The blackbard is the caldari Ewar cruiser. It won't help you catch or kill your opponents, but it will stop them from killing you, by making them unable to lock anything.
The rifter, a minmatar frig, is the fastest T1 ship in the game. With a microwarpdrive and some basic speed mods in the lows, you MIGHT be able to get close enough to a nanoship to warpscramble and web it, thus preventing it from running... |

Vexor might be what you are looking for. Nos, Neuts and webs will disable even the best nano ships and your drones will then pick them appart.
As said above, rifters are always a good ship to fly.
Get one person in a blackbird and one or two people in speed fit rifters with a web and scram each and you could possibly kill any one thing possibly two if your blackbird pilot can jam both effectivly. |

Thank you for the advice. I should have stated above that I am gallente, does anyone have any tactics fo that race? I was thinking about using a nos/nuet thorax or possibly finding a webber that can web at about 25KM, do you think any of those would be viable in pvp? |

Edited by: Rehtom Lamina on 10/10/2008 14:42:56 For long range webbers you will need either/or combination of:
Minmatar Recons (Huggin/Rapier) Domination Webber (100m/200m on contracts?) Thermodynamics/Overloading
Since your gallente then Thorax is great, there awesome pvp ships. Put a 1600mm plate on there and the best blasters that will fit. ECM drones are a nice touch also.
Alternativly try the celestis with lots of damps :D annoys the hell out of anything that relys on keeping its disance (ie. a ship that wants to stay out of web range ;) )

No problem, just remember the most important thing of all when pvp'ing, have fun and if you loose dont dwell on it but think why it happened and how you can use that loss to prevent similar in the furture. |

The more you pvp the better you will become.
A plated thorax with ecm drones as one poster has already mentioned is a good strategy.
Balance your gang out with the EW cruisers e.g. Blackbirds, Celestis, Bellicose and Arbitrator. Add a tackler. Also if anyone can fly a stabber fit one for speed as this can fill a dual role as tackler and can take some damage. Don't forget the Griffin... useful ship...
A good gang usually has a mix of tacklers, dps and ECM. Think in threes and mix it up and see what works. Use role bonuses wherever possible.
What makes a gang work is that everyone is aware of the role they need to fufill. A well organised t1 cruiser gang can be lethal if underestimated.
Also consider using a super tanked Drake as bait, then bring in your ECM to take out your primary target. Remember eve is like rock, paper and scissors. Arbitrator wouldn't be much use against a caracal etc etc. However a cheap T1 osprey could transfer shield for you.
Remember to relocate if you are having a rough time and don't be afraid to undock in shuttles to get away from being camped.
Final reminder: ECM ECM ECM ECM!
Fly smart.
When the war ends keep pvping within corp to get used to setups and strategies.

Not true. The slasher is faster.

True, sorry. Probably will end up slower though, with only one low slot to fit with speed modules...

Try the Celestis against fast ships. Damp the hell out of them to make them get closer, then web them (although veterans won't fall for this). Also, light drones are your friend, they are faster and if you bring the enemy closer with your damps, you can bring them into play.
Blackbirds are great at taking some of your enemy out of the fight but do nothing to help you catch them.

Get a grip. It's the most practical thing for rookies trying to take on vastly more sp and in-game pvp skills. Helps level the palying field.
Op. Make an alt or two and make system safespots and use him as scout. Also try to talk someone experienced into ganging you and directing your strategy.

Do not forget the Vigil. If you need as much speed as possible and tackle then its perfect. Cheap and very effective.

Not required, but ECM will put you light years ahead of where you'd be without it.

Agreed - the Executioner and Slasher are more like T0.5.
Edit: Aw I should read the entire thing maybe. Too slow.

A speed fit slasher is still faster than a speed fit rifter.

Vigil is the fastest ti frig in the game, it does however need frig v to do so, which means in many cases the other mimi frigs (and executioner) surpass it. Rifters may be slower, but they're capable of taking and dealing more damage than either the vigil, slasher or executioner with lower skills. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

One thing nobody else mentioned, is to play on the fact that at first, they won't think you'll fight. They're used to easy ganks. In fact, if you can afford it, give them some and let them thing you're another group that won't fight back. Then wait until they have 1 or 2 guys camping a station and you have a few guys online, go kill them. They won't expect resistance and you could catch them off guard and get some good kills in. Then from there fight back.
Good Luck. --------- Your bad loan management perfectly strikes the stock market, wrecking for -777.68 points. Eve job list |
