We do a little gardening, we plot a little revenge. Revolutions make for some strange bedfellows, and counter-revolutions even more so. Here's someone whom our industrious leader doesn't like very much ... but she knows her way around the intricate workings of the old system, and she's a deft hand with a scalpel.

Good stuff. I'm not sure why Heth would be so treacherous towards a loyal Provist though...

Heth was making an offering. The Provist probably meant nothing to him and would be easily replace. So, he sends her know that the ex-ceo will probably kill her. To the ex-ceo its part of who she is. She mutilates plants possibly out of frustration at her impotency of the sitiuation. By taking the life of the Provist and feeding her plants, she accepts Heth's offer, add new chemicals to the soil, and most importantly strikes a symbolic cut at Heth.
that's may opinion.

Heth doesn't have a problem sacrificing someone for what he considers a higher cause, his rise to power began with a similar act. I can't see Heth having come up with all this by himself though so I'm of the opinion that Janus is alive and well and that the wicked witch of the north here is being used by him to bring the other CEOs into line.
It's a pity the Mega-Corp CEOs are all being painted as so petty and self-centered that they would focus their revenge upon the man responsible for reforming their society and, if the trends were to be believed, saving it from collapse. It would have been nice to see at least one or two more lights in the darkness. Still I suppose their "review" of the Provist reforms will make interesting reading.

I agree with most of your statements and would point out that you can replace Heth in your first sentence with Caldari and fix the grammar and it should be accurate. It is always about the whole over the one.
Something to look at here is that it claims all 7 MCs are working to take down Heth, but as an example Lai Dai is not particularly fond of Ishukone (major research competitors).
The story sets up something that we likely won't see in game (at least not PvP wise) and that is open warfare between the Megacorporations. Also the CEOs no better than to try and destroy each other's corporations, they know they have to maintain the balance or Heth's fears of a Federation invasion will be realized. The cold warfare has always been there.

See the novel. He sent the guy out as his stand-in to face the Home Guard sniper knowing he would die...it's assumed he also knew that the armor, which the factory guards had been told was good enough to save their lives in such a situation, was junk, and in a dramatic fashion he gets the guards on his side this way.
So again, he's giving up a loyal follower (who probably would be willing to die for the cause) to get an ally on his side. His driving motive as a character seems to be hate, not justice; hate of corruption, hate of the elite, hate of the Gallente, etc.

I try to pretend the novel doesn't exist, but I suppose you're right. Still, it sort of invalidates his position. It would make sense if he sent suicidal Provists out, ones who were aware of what they were doing... but the fact that he has to lie and deceive on a regular basis to his own people makes him no different from those before him.

Great story but doesn't really follow Caldari tradition...Why is a women the CEO of a large corp, Caldari wouldn't have any women in a position of power...thats what confuses me about the Amarr too, but they just put a women in power of the whole empire. I don't like where the Caldari are heading...to much drama, backstabbing, lies. Caldari are suppose to be efficient and almost robot-like race but your stories seem like their more fit for the drama-queen gallente. Please don't let the Caldari continue on this path (if you have a choice).

Um, neither race's culture has any prohibitions on women holding positions of power. All of the races have relitive gender equality. This fact is pointed out in the character creation text. Some old fiction that I couldn't point you at because I wouldn't remember also says Jamyl isn't the first Empress.
I'll let the Caldari players here go after you for calling them robots. Drones are a Gallente specialty after all.

Nice one...
However one little thing:
Plants do NOT produce antibodies... toxic chemical defence to destroy/neutralise the parasite and its toxin... or even, as a last resort, lethal to itself and killing the infected tissues (hence preventing the parasite to spread)...

Arghe. Let's call it a toxin and blame Wikipedia.
And speaking of the plants, question for everyone: Did you automatically realize why I wrote those specific plant scenes, and what Oiritsuu's actions in each scene represent, or did the hidden meanings not register on anyone's radar?

I figured out what was going on when it got to the bloated and swollen one/Oiritsuu's entry into the corporate world. I'll probably have to go back and re-read to get the ones I didn't the first time.

It starts off subtle, but by the end it was understood for me. It really depends on the reader, some people can be dense.

Great Chronicle as always.
I really love the flora scenes personally, pretty much to me says how she deposes her anger as well as what she's presumably going to do to the 7 Mega-corporation CEOs.

The visualization between narration was good, showing how she should have realized her mistakes before she made them since those pictures were such an intricate part of her life. All the way down to the 2 plants fighting their way to the top but only reaching it because they had the other to fight, the pictures show how this woman was relentless, even when it meant she would eventually lose her life. She lost much and would lose much more, as would all around her. But as long as she saw her actions as a fertilizer, a catalyst for future good, she would persist.

Ding ding ding! A winner.
I saw the symbology but was having to much fun enjoying her sick gardening. Carving living, mute flesh... Guantanamo Bay, for plants.
I also have a sunflower garden, I like to watch them struggle to stay upright in the dappled shade of my (sh!tty)backyard in my unsafe neighborhood. Seeing something more miserable than normal(me) is really appeasing...but I might just be a sicko.
PS: My dead cats make good fertilizer. Loved that choice of ending. PPS: I did not run over/poison/abuse said cats. Seriously, I don't want mail. Live and Let Die...All of it...null |

I liked it, not in a major way. But enjoyable reading to get some more backdrop on the peoples of Eve. And no, I dont imagine the Caldari to be robotlike in any way. In my view they appear to have a culture that comes with a facistoid trait, and so backstabbing is very much to be expected.

After the second plant scene, I got it; and I tracked with with each plant scene. Brilliant. Good descriptional use of the botanical details of the plants to parallel people and events. I was hooked.
