the live dev blog that all the whiners tuned out as soon as they realized CCP wasn't going to leave the game in it's broken state just because they whined about it?

Quote: Mindstar: Ok. Continuing along these lines. One of the key things ships have been able to do when theyÆre speed fitted, which is perhaps not intended, is being able to reapproach stargates and jump back through, even when they get webbed or when they are webbed after theyÆve started to approach. A lot of ships are very fast and their momentum is able to just carry them on back to the gate (in the face of a determined gatecamp). Q: Is this a game design consideration for speed balancing? Nozh: Yep, of course it is. WeÆve been keeping an eye on this on the test servers and we will do so again when it hits public testing. WeÆre not entirely sure how it will work out on TQ of course but some options weÆve been looking at for example is removing the stacking penalty from the webifiers soàdefinitely we will be keeping an eye on this and we will resolve the issueàif there will be any issues.
Quote: Also, players will fit to burn back to gates, because otherwise you randomly die when you jump into a gatecamp, which is affectionately known as "the ghey" and makes bubbles pretty close to "press buttan, receive killmail."
If you have problems with gate camps, try using a scout next time?
And players will only fit to burn back to gates if a sane fitting selection exists which allows them to do so. Frigates should be able to np, interdictors i'd imagine, and probably even t1 cruisers (and vagabonds), but anything slower than that may not be able to regardless of what they fit, depending on how they address the inertia issue. The idea is you should not be able to escape from situations you have no business escaping from, if you think bubbles are "teh ghey" then watching nano***s jump through unscouted and burn back and escape risk free despite your 15 ships sitting there webbing them is "liberace^2 ghey." Jumping into a system unscouted without even bothering to check the map for stats on it is stupid, and players should be able to punish you for your stupidity.
QFT.
You aren't meant to live jumping into a blob bubbled gate camp. The fact that your nano setup allows you to clearly shows how overpowered it is. |
