Ok, open for discussion rather than flames over my disposable income!!
Looking at the sell forums a titan copy goes for around 9b isk currently. With the right implants a can make a copy every 107 days giving a healty yearly percentage profit.
Will so make people eventually start doing this that the price become so low to make it unworth the time the copy takes? Why are more people not doing it currently?
I would hope that with one level of ME you could sell the print on to an alliance for at least what you pay for it eventually.
Have IPO's been started for Titan copies and failed and if so why?
Off to look on eve-search b4 I get told I'm lazy.

Large investment required. 65 billion for the BPO. That's why you don't see more.

Huge investment. When you crunch the numbers, pittiful ROI.
Titan production is profitable though, but you need Sov 4 space.

As the others have said above large amount of capital start. Also you're looking at a limited demand. The BPC may be cheap but the ship is not. Most alliances that can afford to buy a BPC in order to make a Titan can already afford buy the BPO and the materials. In order to get them to buy it you need some serious R&D enticement. So you could dump 16 months if ME research on a BPO and then it may sell pretty well. But you've had to pay quiet a bit up front for something you're researching for over a year.
Lots of risk for something that may sell for 4b in 18months.

Cyberdyne was doing Motherships and Titans but when the market for motherships dropped by 10-15bn a ship they realised they wouldnt be able to make their 2nd Interest Payment so they did a buyback of the 80bn stake outstanding for a value of 50bn.
I looked at mothership copies last August, 2-4bn a copy at the time, now you can pick up a ME1 copy at 500m without too much hassle

Even a full year ago I didn't feel Titan copies were worthwhile, since then I can't imagine their value would have gone up, likely just down. Otherwise I'd have gotten at least one of each to church out some copies. Now that I'm barely playing it may not be such a bad idea really. Get a few Titan BPO's to ME1-2 and either resell em in 6-12 months or start making copies then. But bleh... would rather just see the ISK sitting my wallet for the small profit it would potentially gain me.
So yeah, if a single person like myself with nothing better to do with my money these days doesn't find it worth it then I really doubt anyone actively playing would.

The biggest pitfall with getting into the Titan production market however is that sov requirement.
Setting yourself up as a third party contractor for said Titans is a pretty hard sell since there is an almost insurmountable trust issue there. Competing alliances just love to know who is building what and when. |

CyberDyne R-D did a Titan IPO a year ago. However it was not for production of BPC's, it was for actualy production and auctions of manufactured ships. The IPO was for 70b isk and during the 6 month suggusted term we realized inital market figures were not going to be met. We closed the term with a corporate vote during month 5 with a total payout of 78b isk to investors.
