I have a couple of miners on my corp. They have stopped playing the game, because they said it's not profit on mining on 0.5-1.0 space.
They cannot go to low sec, because they don't have the experience neither our corp is enough big.
The question then is; how to be (if possible) a profitable miner in high space? Thanks a lot.

* watch the marke as good as possible * find long term contracts with production corps * use the minerals in corp for production and market * protect your cans or "indi mine"
I doubt you'll get rich but it's a living. If you mine and build I think (from very limited experience) you will do better.

I am member of mining/industrial corp that mines to build, we don't sell the ore/ice on open market. Many of us supplement mining with mission running, both for salvage/bounties on L4 missions as well as reprocessing of t1 junk for minerals. When more of group are skilled into hulks/covetors we will do more corp missions to 0.0 we have access to. -------

The question you could really ask is whether mining in low-sec is worth the effort. Seriously... look at the markets near you and see how much ISK/m^3 you get for the various ores. You'll likely see that there's little difference between all the high-sec and low-sec ores (in fact, last time I checked, Veldspar was the most profitable ore outside of 0.0 due to high Tritanium prices). Even if there's a slight benefit to the low-sec ores, you'll more than likely lose out overall due to having to adopt sub-optimal (in terms of yield) tactics to stay alive - for example, you can't just park a hauler next to a jetcan and go at it - plus you've got to account for the time you spend hiding from pirates, the cost of the ships that will occasionally go pop, and the price (in time and possible lost industrials) of hauling your ore to a decent selling location.
How to be a profitable miner in high sec is pretty simple - maximise the amount of ore you get, and maximise the returns on your ore. The first is essentially just training skills in-game, choosing solid ships and setups, and getting the hang of a decent methodology. The latter is essentially using the market to get the most out of the ore - more or less refining with no loss, selling in sensible locations and using sell orders where possible to squeeze out every last ISK.
Halada's Mining Guide covers just about everything you'd want to know about the ins and outs.
Asides from that, I'll just offer that I'm not sure why anyone actually wants to mine. It's really boring (level 4 missions aren't a trip to Disneyland, but they're not quite as bad in comparison), it makes less money than you could running missions with similar training/ISK investments, and the skills you learn aren't transferable to other areas like combat skills are.
Each to their own I guess...

There is plenty of ore in Empire to keep my small ship flying self going fairly easily.

Well since I hardly run any missions I do not need to be flying crazy fitted BS's.
Granted I am a newer player and I spent my time training alot of support skills the past year and I have not trained BS's yet.
If I am unable to dedicate time to PVP then I am the type of individual that can not dedicate the time to running level 4's, at least not at this SP level. I log on and fill my hold a few times and log off. If I have the time, and like in my past, there was now gang in sov I would jump to Empire and fill my holds for a few hours. When I get a solid amount of ore and/or a low wallet I refine and sell.
I guess it also helps that since I trained alot of support skills to this point most of the ships I fly are less expensive and the mods; well, isk from mining covers those also.
Once again this is the viewpoint of 1 year old pilot that started of on the mining path and decided that he had gone to far to turn around and trained for the Hulk and have minimum refinging skills trained passed what was given to me at the start. I am not arguing the boredome factor, but what grinding is not a bore?

Team mining is the most productive.
Miners and haulers working together.
Also, there's the whole mining -> refining -> production -> selling cycle where it helps to have people with a good bit of talent in each area.
When you first start off, mining is more productive than Level I missions, especially if you aren't salvaging them or are running them for the Galente or Caldari where the drops are bad.
As you get more involved it becomes more interesting, developing blue prints etc. But it's still all about the whole process, which includes running missions so you can access higher level research agents.
And as above someone needs to develop some marketing savy or you're not going to get what you're making is really worth.
All of that takes time and interest. If you don't have either one, yeah, it's a lot easier to just grind your way to Level IV missions.
