...people who wanted to take a break used to leave thinking "oh well, my character will skill anyway, so i'll be back when i wish".
Now people will think "oh ffs, i've lost so much time, it's not worth to come back".
But, i agree that too much people were doing this on purpose, and i personally never did it, but... meh maybe there was a better solution if we just thought about it a bit better.

Funny story - my main was created in 2004 and I have 32 million SP
Based on how long I've been in game, I should have at least 50% more than that - as in, I've lost over a year of skill training by occasionally not playing, and I haven't felt discouraged in returning because of it

I have 20M SP but I was seriously about to quit eve once, until I remembered I put a cruiser skill to training towards level 5 and realized I could fly HAC's.

I know so many people in game with 2003/2004/2005 characters who took long breaks and have much less sp than they would have had they trained continuously. They all came back.
