This is the 2nd time this has happened and I am so angry right now that I am even considering cancelling my account.
You get a warning when you are selling stuff for low prices but there is no warning whatsoever when you buy something that is extremely expensive. I thought I was buying some cheap mods but because I was in a hurry I didn't double check the price so I ended up spending 110 MILLION on some stuff that should have cost me 2 or 3 million.
I allways tried to prevent this but because I was on a roll with my agent I was in a happy mood and in a hurry so I didn't look before I hit the button... I know its a free market but this should not be possible without a form of warning. That 110 million is 4+ months of hard work and should have been insurance for my ships. Right now I don't know what I should do as all my reserves have gone up in smoke...
So can we please get some form of protection against this kind of thing? Right now the joy I had playing eve and doing stuff got vaporised by some @ssh#le who prolly thinks its funny someone was stupid enuff to actually buy his stuff.

I agree. I've sold a shuttle for a million, and i've bought a bestower for 3.5 million. So i've been on both ends of this. Its an exploit, and i dont like it either.

Two things you need to do
first wont do you a DAMNED BIT OF GOOD AND THAT IS FILE A EXPLOIT PETITION (ups caps) you will get a response saying that it was your own fault (the support peoble suck) although you already know this will be the answer you need to do this
second Eve mail the person (or if possible make a convo with him) be polite and see if he will give you your money back (it may be a long shot but it has hapened that i got my money back) you will get the persons name in the market transaction record
i do agree however a warning that this price is above the Market average would be nice (also being able to turn the damn warning off would be even nicer)
unfortunatly there are many exploiters in EVE and the support teams opinion is that exploiting others are OK
we need a player Councill like a court system where we can bring in exploiters, grieffer and the like that is not covered by the standard rules
these Judges could make a verdict like change the sec rating of this person or have their own patroll (like for instance the EVE marshall's) that would be allowed to hunt down and kill this Charectors with no response from Concord Thank You Paw Sandberg

Sorry but you being in a hurry and not looking is just plain idiocy, there's no cure.
It's not like they misrepresented the merchandise so I can't see how it's an exploit, sure it's speculation but that's what capitalism is all about, fair trade is a figment of your imagination.

And they're right, it is your own fault.
They show you the price you're about to pay, they leave it there untill you decide how many you want.

A player-run court thing might be interesting, but CCP would have to be looking over their shoulders to ensure they dont abuse it. (i.e. Ill vote to screw your rival if you vote to screw mine)
As far as the economy itself, yeah it sucks, but theres a lot of exploiters out there, and one of the things about a dynamic market is that this sort of thing is not only allowed but in many ways condoned. What a lot of people do is use one of their other character slots to create a 'bank' char, where you store all your reserves so you dont accidentally fall to the 5 million dollar shuttle trick.
The warning window would be nice, but it would also be nice if it and the too-low-to-sell window only popped up if your price was, say, 50% or more above/below the market average. Its so annoying, I might be sellng ore at 13.34 apiece, and the window always comes up and says 'omg loal son youre too low, the market average is 13.35' and Im like duh, I know that already... _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

what I would like to see is some sort of contract option, where you can choose from drop down menues what each player is supposed to provide. Like onething that is easily exploited is "I need minerals to buy your bs" etc. If you could then just make a contract saying party 1 will supply x zydrine and y megacyte and 10 mill isk, party 2 will then within a maximum timeframe of 2 weeks supply an armagedeon. If the demands are not met the party getting the stuff will get the value of the stuff he got transfered directly out of his wallet, and if he does not have it he will be outlawed, etc...

The way to avoid this is put your ISK on a character you do not use. It would be nice to have a bank with interest though. 0.o It's not you... no wait it is you. |
